Tech speed for AI

I was wondering what advavantage AI has when teching (2.08) at Monarch level. Sometimes it feels that they take enourmous gap with their tech even if one moment ago you were close to catch them or leading in tech. Are they just trading without restrictions or are they lightbulping like hell?

What would be amount of beakers you should make and in what part of the game? Like in early games, sometimes I get pottery very quickly (sometimes before my first worker is completed), make a few cottages to floodplains and I am seemingly teching fast. Is it just a illusion?

EDIT: I forgot.. tech speed is linked to game speed :D

So game speed would be normal and map size large.
 
It's true that you seem to research very quickly on faster speeds, but it is all scaled. If you play a map on quick or on marathon, depending you your start, you can and probably will get pottery researched before completing your worker. :)

But to answer your question, the AI on monarch has a research rate of 115% of the player.

Like I said in the opening, I am interested at playing in normal speed and large map. What I would like to know is that how much science would I have to generate to compete with AI?
 
On Monarch the research costs only 80% for the AI civs. It is the same with the production and probably with the food (not absolutely sure about the food).
