tech tree needs an update!

techs are not only progressing way too quickly in mid/late game, but also, i get a little turned off every time i see that i can research flight and its the 1400's... like... c'mon.

gotta give a chance to get our renaissance and industrial units going before bringing in flight.
 
I think you could try to edit techs cost in xml files if you know how to do it. Another decision is to change step of time passing so that more years will be added to current date.
 
I think it's rather the year/turn scaling that needs an update.

On the other hand, there were periods of technologic stagnation in history that might be hard to represent in game.
