Technology Era problem - help please...

Hello there,
I've posted somewhere else but it was very obscure and no one replied and I could do with having some answers soon.

I've made FOUR new techs that i've added onto a mod which has been growing for a year or so really, its just a bit conglomeration of various wants and needs. So I'd consider myself a good modder, no noob - yet this tech stuff has got me confused.

I added these techs to the techinfo.xml file thing, (i know the structure of files etc so I don't think its a problem with that) and I did all the other stuff too in other files (civilopedia etc), went back and checked through 3 tutorials, entered the game and ... nothing. Not a sausage, not even something dreadful looking like 'TXT_FILENAME_TECH_TXT' appearing at random points where it should say nice things. There's just no sign of it. The rest of my sprawling mod works perfectly even all the new additions I did whilst doing the techs, but they just don't appear ANYWHERE. I just don't get it, i'm pulling my hair out, i've checked and re-checked and now, like a frustrating game of chess, i think i've hit the point where i'm looking at it so deeply, with such frustration that I can no longer see the answer even if i sat here all year staring at it and it was looking me straight in the face.

So could someone please have a look at my techinfo.xml file and please tell me what i'm doing wrong? You only need this file right? I mean if you want NONE of the shinies just strange 'name missing' things everywhere etc, the point is it should show up, even if badly. - but nadda. Anyways, can someone check out the attached file for me please and get back to me.

Ok, first of all it would be helpful in the future to specify that this is a Warlords mod. I don't think anyone would have jumped to that conclusion to begin with. Second, your problem is that you've put spaces in your Classical Movement tags.

Yes, I should have specified it was warlords, usually I write way tooo much info and bore people, so it is odd I forgot! Oh well, thanks very much, I was beginning to think no one would reply.

UPDATE:

To what I said earlier, hmm, it doesn't seem to work still.
I don't see it in the civilopedia, just the standard techs, nor do I see it anywhere in the game. I'm certain it isn't working. I'm not re-uploading my corrected file from before as this just corrected an issue with the classical movement part. But I don't see ANY of them, I made four techs, none appear in the tech advisor, tech tree, or civilopedia. Please could someone look at the file again and tell me what else might be wrong, it is a warlord mod by the way. I do only need the file i've uploaded right to see SOMETHING? This is still odd, if anyone could upload a modded techinfo.xml file for me if a working tech added then at least i could view it and do the work myself. But I see nothing wrong at the moment.

I can't say for certain, but isn't there a limit for how many and/or prerequisites there can be? I think there can only be 4 orprereqs and 2 andprereqs, but I could be wrong.

Of course that could always be changed with more modding.

sorry to ask an obvious question but you do have this in civilization 4/warlords/mods/YOURMOD/assets/XML/technologies

It is in the right folder, as I said part of a larger mod, I mean I created another new civ+Animated LHs+New UU and UB etc etc just yesterday, i'm fairly quick and competent, yes I can make mistakes like the spaces I had in, but then I should get an error, or some strange message but again, it just doesn't appear.

Interesting idea about the limit of pre-reqs etc, any conformation would be great on that front, but would that make it not appear? Plus some of my techs, i think two of them, only have 2 to 3 techs prereqs. So they should show up.

Again any help please lol, or just can someone else just make a tech, even badly (forget all the accuracy in the civilopedia etc), test it, and send it me, and I might be able to find out whats wrong. And by the way i've cleared out caches etc etc, so its not that.

No, you shouldn't get an error. It doesn't surprise me in the least that a single character out of place in an XML file will make nothing happen with no indication as to why, that kind of thing happens all the time. I suggest you double check to make sure all of the tags are fixed. I know when I did it I forgot about the quote tag because it's at the bottom. Also be on the lookout for any other discrepancies in the XML file, just in case.

It worked perfectly for me. The only issue with prerequisites is that you've apparently included redundant prerequisites for no reason. But that shouldn't produce the effects you describe.

Do it again. It worked for me.

I feel SO embarrassed I'm not even sure I can confess the error I made....

But it's all fixed now, works fine, ahem, it always worked fine - I had the technology folder named technology, not technologies, bloody hell, it is an error I must have made like last year when I wasn't paying attention, and since I never bothered edited the texts last year I never noticed the error, hell that was stupid - it really was a couldn't see the wood for the trees moment.
Oh well, thanks for all your helps anyways
