Yeah well i played Civ3 again last night and with great success. This was the second time i played it and found it a lot easier researching technology, i was researching a lot of technologies in around 8 - 4 turns so i was happy and its 1840 and i'm coming close to taking over the last civilization.
I think the reason i was researching at 32 turns was that i always set the science rate so that i was GROWING. So now i have the science rate at the highest level constantly and when making a loss, i would just sell my technology to another civ and spend the money on embassies or whatever before that turn ended. I also put heaps of scientists in my cities and stayed out of wars.
