It looks like most everyone has voted, but just in case there may be someone who is still undecided...

I support Provolution for this office. The amount of effort he's putting forth as a newcomer bodes well for an active term in office, and we need a strong team to get things going. :D

Provolution for me although as a citizen I perceived just a tiny lack of democratic principles. Remember Provolution: in a democracy the people just ARE always right even if you, more learned and experienced, know them to be wrong. It's up to you to convince the people otherwise and when that fails .... you'll just have to do some serious damage control  If not, history will remember your lack of leadership and not the glory which I'm sure you can deliver us.

Globo

Please define, identify and examplify that tiny lack of democratic principle, and I will comparatively address that in the appropriate manner, and most certainly pinpoint more severe transgressions of what you consider a lack of democratic principle, especially in recent cases in these election campaigns, in which you through your bias has restrained thyselves from coming with comparable critical remarks to other candidates, which of course could be a product of your own political conviction.

Yet, I cannot soothe that stirring unrest in thy trembling citizen heart, but humbly delivering the actions in which the Japanese nation has been promised in the elections.
So bear with me, pass not judgment unless thy accept judgement upon thyselves :)

Having read some previous DG threads, I am very convinced that I as a FA on the contrary would strenghten democracy, and through this election is bestowed the mandate and endowed the powers for a defined time period, I will consult the voice of the people on critical decisions with open referendum polls with carefully selected policy options based on real alternatives. So please withhold preemptive scorn for now.

I agree.

@Globo: You really can't point out a flaw without the term even starting yet. If Provolution is what he claims to be (I'm pretty sure he is), then everything will be fine. Otherwise, there are two options, the judiciary and the next elections. As a citizen, I won't mind his election, as he may prove worth the FA slot this term even though I voted Boots (and still support him).

Vote for BOOTSTOOTS

He's got a lot of expeirence as Foreign Advisor.

Provolution,

First of all voting for you implies my trust. I will most definately refrain myself from pointing out a flaw before the game has started. I have not seen any so far. I was merely expressing a concern. Since you ask me to identify the passages that led to my perception I will do so without wanting to start a discussion which should have taken place within the nomination thread and could of course take place within another thread:

In your nomination and synopsis of program you write (...) in the absence of qualified feedback. I was struggling in fact with the word 'qualified', wondering who decides which feedback is qualified or not. Later in the same nomination thread (#32) you again use the word 'qualified' referring to the voice of the people giving qualified feedback. Again it got me wondering whether there is such a thing as unqualified feedback. In my opinion it doesn't exist when dealing with something as important as the voice of the people.

In this same (BTW very interesting post) I read an intention to scale down the number of polls to major strategic choices. Who decides which strategic choice is major .... let's have a poll on it  I am concerned this intention could damage the democracy by filtering the voice of the people. I think we shouldn't forget this democracy is by nature of its voting system very direct and must remain so. In real life it is unworkable but this isn't real life now is it? Even polls as stupid as popularity contests have a place in it and should be taken into account since this is every citizens' game.

Anyway, here you have my 2 cents. I again like to say you got my full and unconditional support and I'm looking forward to a fun and interesting game with all you people. I could learn a lot :crazyeye:

Globo

In order to show how I am NOT going to use polls, please read DG1, term and 2 on the FA tthreads in the archives. The citizenry was flooded by polls. As a term is one month, and I am uncertain on how many years/turns we manage to get into the game in that time, I will at least poll the following issues:

Declaration of Wars
Peace Agreements
Alliances
Trades, in agreement with TD, MD, SD and President

Executive decisions on placement of embassies, espionage. sabotage, intelligence gathering, will be subject to a bugetary round involving all departments, in the Japanese Foreign Ministry, Japanatica Gaimushoo, also referred to as the Japanese "Ringi" system , which is the Japanese "democratic" system for voting.
Yet, all major agendas will be subject to a citizen poll, where the FA will present 3-4 viable agenda options the people can vote on.

Regarding unqualified feeback, that is forum outage, low participation, minority vote, and is based on "democratic deficit", a term commonly used about what happens in your hometown Brussels, and my restriction on such qualified feedback is based on democratic groundrules. In my first term, you will see mostly a set of strategic policy votes, as I do not present piecemeal options, but optional strategic doctrines.
Provolution FA is there to build Japan for the long haul, not for soothing ultrademocratic worries on extreme polling, but for abiding the constitution, the moderators (Supreme Justice) and following the program presented by me in all of my threads. I haven't seen you comment on ANY policies, so your influence starts there.

im voting for CivGeneral because Provolution talks too much (no offense) and boots would give in to Persians...PERSIANS!!!

What are you talking about.... What else would you do but talk now?

By the way, it was Sherman who said the first quote in your sig.

CivGeneral approaches the podium

*Ahem* I would like to give my special congradulations to 2 of our canidates that have taken a lead in the FAs department. I know I can trust Provolution on leading our nation in FAs and also being as a Trade Deputy, I hope to work along side with him regarding in trade affairs. I am also glad that our veteran FAs canidate will still be in the FAs department. I wish that Term 1 of this demogame will be a succsessful Term.

Congrats to Prov for claiming the FA position, and to the deputy, Bootstoots!

Thanks Chieftess

And to all that supported me with their voices and their votes. I would also like to thank the ones that gave me poor counterarguments that enabled me to get more support.I will not fail the voters, and deliver as promised and more.

And to bootstoots, thanks for a honorable race, I look forward to work with you.

Yet, this FA will guarantee that no Iron will be given away on my recommendation.

 Your thanks are accepted Provolution. Let me thank you for your clear and satisfactory answers. As for your remarks on a 'democratic deficit' in Brussels I hope you were referring to the EU institutions since in Belgian internal affairs voting is obligatory (substantially lowering such a deficit) and the inhabitants of Brussels are in this country well known for their rejection of extremist votes (unfortunatly not the case all over Belgium).

PS: since I am leaving on holiday now and will not be near a computer in the next two weeks pls. don't see my absence as a .... democratic deficit ;)
