Well you made your decision, I respect that. I just hope it was not the GW of this election.

GW? excuse my ignorance, please...

Sarevok, don't take my "campaign" posts too seriously

My guess is it is a reference to our beloved Dubya(as in George W Bush), who "won" a close race a few years back. However, any further elaboration on this should be handled in CFC's Off Topic Forum. ;)

Im surprised how seperate the OT has always been from the rest of the site. It seems there are only a handful of big OT'ers who are in seperate sections of the site. Most of my posts are from the OT, but I think I make up a disctinct minority among OT'ers in that I participate elsewhere on the site.

Well, here you have it Sarevok, my informed pacifist :p vote. Just try to avoid raising cities (I hate it almost as much as culture flips). Make us strong!

Right on, Globo!

I vote for myself, but seeing as how though I'm not going to win, I throw my support for Sarevok.

:D :scan: I know you deny it, Falc, but I have been watching and I do my research (as opposed to some people).

Whenever you win an election and post a thread for that office, you average posting in those threads 3.5 days out of the month. Two of those days were to apologize for not posting in the T/C Instructions thread, and 1 was to compain about spamming. You did leve the Governorship of the Southwest Province on the 20th of the month, just as you left the Military Leader position of Term 4 DG3 on the 25th of the month.

Even though you've bailed early on only two posts officially, your lack of posting in the Military thread is rather disturbing to me. I go there to find information about our Military, and all I find is a two week old post. Just because you're popular doesn't mean you don't have to do your work. I'm not trying to harass you here, we've had these discussions before. Your lack of posting sets an example to the new players. One of the major problems for this game is that Leaders feel they don't need to do the work required of them. This always leads to th downfall of the game. Granted you have a busy schedule, but there are other positions more suited for citizen with a lack of time. Try Culture, or Trade, or Mayor.

do you hate culture flips that go in our favor?

Okay Cyc.

DG3 Term 4, I hardly call taking the LAST WEEK of my term off to move back into my Dorm "bailing." And I left it in the Capable hands of Peri. Resigning was likely not neccisary, because it didn't take me long to settle in to my Dorm, however I wasn't sure, and so I resigned to ensure that the should my concerns prove true I would not leave the Demogame with Chaos.
Military Department Demogame 3 Term 4

After looking back at the archives, I was going to say you were wrong about "Southwest Province" however, I did eventually find the thread you were refering to, and I don't know what to say... I'm not sure what caused me to leave. I am shocked by the fact that I don't seem to notice any announcement of my resignation, except skylord taking over.

Here is the thread Cyc was refering to
Southwest Province - Term 6

However, to be perfectly honest I did not remember ever serving a governorship in DGII, let alone resigning that position. This is the Governorship I remember, however I thought it was only one term but aparently it was two.
Capitoline - DG3 - Term 5
Capitoline - DG3 -Term 6
The second Term I resigned October 11th.

What's the constant between the Governor Resignation...? Both times I was forced to resign during the middle to end of my school semester. It was a mistake of mine to run for the governorship at these times, I thought at the begining that things were gonna stay about the same work load until the month of finals.... I thought the only month I needed to worry about was the month of finals and didn't intend to run that month. Like I said this was a mistake on my part, and does NOT apply to the month of Augest.

Within the Military Thread I use the Military thread for three big things... Strength updates, announcements of war, and anwsering any questions people might have. But people have to post those questions in the military thread for me to reply to them. Same thing goes with the Military Discussion threads when I post them. In that Term you are refering to, none of my Discussion thread brought the participation I wanted.
Russian War Discussion thread
I can't make many posts if I get only a little feedback from the citizens with which to reply to. I'm not saying I got NO feedback, but the feedback I got was limited.

The strength updates as I like to do them (esp. at in that late point in the game) take a LONG time to complie, which lead to me only doing a few over the month. The term which you refered to I was able to make 3 such posts, and I have said in the debates before these elections, that in my later Terms I was not able to post updates as I had wanted. And I stated that I would divide this duty with my Deputy to ensure that I am able to have frequent such updates updates.

I regret that I was never able to post those updates as frequently as I wanted to (after every turnchat), however I do not feel I EVER Neglected my duties in any way. In fact, I feel in those three cases by resigning, and making sure there is someone there to take over for me I was fulfilling my responcibility BOTH to the demogame and real life. Cyc you've been with the Demogame as long as I have, and you know of the various people who won elections and got into positions then left without a word.

This Month I can garentee College will NOT interupt my term with the exception of 1-2 days for moving back into my apartment around the 15th.

Classes do not start until September. And as such will not effect this term AT ALL.

You're suggestions for Mayor, Trade and Culture, I may take into concideration for when I actually have College classes to worry about, however since I WILL have time this term, I think it's much better for me to go with one of the Departments I have experience with, and enjoy, and not move onto Departments and rules which I don't expect I would enjoy as much..

During the Summer I DO NOT have a busy schedule. I am Unemployed (due to transportation issues), I am not taking Summer classes, and the largest things which fill my time are items of Leisure (going out with friends, web surfing, and computer games). I still have to buy items for my new apartment and other such items in preperations for moving into my new Dorm, however this should not effect my Demogame responcibilities.

I don't mind you voting for Sarevok, and if I lose, there are few who I would rather lose the Military Advisor election to then him.

I don't mind you pointing out the terms which I resigned and using those to support Sarevok.

However, I can't help but take offense to your characteration of me as this...

I have NEVER neglected my duties, in my later terms I admit I haven't gone above my duties as much as I wish and as much as I did in my earlier terms. But I did my job, I watched the forums for questions and discussions that applied, I posted turnchat instructions on time (MOST of the time), I attended the turnchats that I could, and tried to make sure when I was unable to post turnchat instructions that instructions got the the DP.

Edit: forgot to mention posting important military polls and discussions

Secondly, I DENY NOTHING! Except the accusation of neglecting my duties and I have not learned from my past mistakes which caused my resignation from the governorship. I have outlined the examples you set forth AND ADDED TO IT, I posted the links, you just referanced them. I take pride in my honesty, and I can't help but take personally you seeming to imply that I have not been honest during my campaign.

Excellent post Falcon02. I admire your statesmanship, and I'm very happy to see that you did your homework on this matter. I'm not doubting your honesty, I was detailing your work ethics. Two different things. I was not being dishonest when I excluded your two Governorships in DG3, I just forgot about them (silly me). But according to your last paragraph, I could accuse you of doubting my honesty because I didn't mention those Terms. You see what I'm saying. I wasn't doubting your honesty. We all create the world we live in, sometimes it adheres to the facts right down the line, sometimes not. I merely stated my displeasure of the way vyou handled your Terms in Office. Ok, so you "left" Office during your last two Terms as Governor and your Last Term as Military Leader. I believe that comes fairly close to my initial statement of not remembering the last time you actively finished a Term. Period. I'm sorry if you became offended about matters of pride and honesty. I do not feel I overstepped any personal or political boundries. As I stated before the elections, I am bound to bring up someone's past policies in debate if I feel they will help the Nation as a whole. I do not consider this mudslinging. I'm merely trying to protect my constituents. A second benefit to this is if I could get you to post more frequently in any Governmentn threads you might open. I like to read, and it seems when I go to your threads, that is not an option. It's a blue moon special.

Anyway, I'm glad we've both said our piece (peace?) and we can now move forward from this point, hopefully on better terms (no pun intended :) ).

I personally think that This has been an... interesting issue between you too. I personally know nothing of Falcon's record of personal observance. I have however read that he is very good at this office and has been proven capable in all things of the office. I would compare him to a great general, who sees enemy forces arrayed against foes and being able to lead troops with plans to victory. He has shown to be very good at this and it has been shown by his consistent re-election record he has mentioned here (I have not checked if it is true).

The major difference between us however is that he is the general of the tactical victory, capable of winning battles against foes with effect and winning an unbroken string of victories. He will not find an opponent he cannot best, nor a town he could not take. I on the other hand would tie more to the image of a warlord who plots the campaigns instead of the course of the battles. To see the weak spots of the enemies and exploit them for maximum effect, ultimately resulting in the same string of victories and subsequent victory, though if applied right could be victories that yield fewer casualties and take much less time. I personally beleive that we would make an excellent combination in the ministry, capable of creating an unstoppable force that no other DG has seen. At this stage of the game where our decisions now will become Long-term issues that will make or break our nation, The question now is who do you want at the head of this alliance: The Tactical General, or the Strategic Warlord?

Whatever is the choice, I trust that it will be the right decision according to the will of the people.

Vote Sarevok!

Nope, I love 'em. I did note your remarks on using culture to expand our borders and take resources, the use of temples and libraries on our border to expand our culture etc.

Cyc, I don't concider it mudslinging either, but as I said I found it hard to not take it personally, because I feel I have never neglected my duties, and I concider myself a very responsible person. Also the wording seemed to suggest showing some doubt in my honesty, which hurt. I wasn't neccisarily less then honest by pointing out you missed the other terms as governor, why would you "ignore" something that could be seen as simply more evidence for your argument?

Also, "'left' Office during [my] last two Terms as Governor" is not totally accurate... I ended both Governorships on a resignation. However, my last two Terms as governor would be both terms in Capitoline (the first of which I completed), thus meaning only the last term as governor, and the third to last term (Southwest). As I said... note the timing of the Government... mid College Semester, I SHOULD NOT have run for governor at those times, if I had realized that then I would only have that Military resignation on my record. Also, if you noticed, I did not participate in DG4 in any official roll due to this reason, I realized that with the major I've chosen, workload changes quickly, and it rarely decreases. I NEVER intend to run for any major position ever again during a College semester, the only exception might be Mayor, but that's very iffy. Even Culture or Trade as you suggested (though I feel trade has quite a bit of work tweeking and polling trade options), I think would be too much for me to fairly fullfill my obligations with. Not to mention, my workload next semester will be unlike any of my previous semesters (big reason why only Mayor is even remotely an option). As such I want to get my participation in before I'm forced into seclusion again at the begining of the semester.

The Military Leader resignation was the result of moving into my Dorm, I was unsure how long it would take me to settle into my dorm, not to mention at the time we needed to go around and get stuff for my dorm, I needed to clean out my room, etc. I had left this wait till then. Since it was the end of the term, I figured it would be best not let the citizenry suffer and just let Peri because of how much I had to do before moving in, and moving in occured the 3 days before the end of the Term (looking on the dates again, it was more then just how long to settle in but preperations in general). If I had taken that time off in the middle of the term, we would not be talking about this, and I would have "completed" the term. However, I was not allowed to move in to my dorm in the middle of the Term, we were locked out until the 28th or 29th of Augest if I remember correctly. That is why I do not concider it a resignation or "bailing." Last I heard Leaders were granted the ability to take breaks in order to deal with Real Life, so long as those Leaders make sure someone else (the Deputy) is in place to take over for that period. Is that period banned from occuring at the start of one's term or the end of one's term? Or else get a black mark for "not promptly taking over your duties" or "Not finishing your term"?

Also by doing this I missed only two turnchats

August 28th
August 31st
And the second t/c (for some reason I don't know) didn't even go beyond Pre-turn.

Like I said, alot of the threads I've posted in the later terms suffered from a lack of feedback, I post a discussion thread, post what I think and look for feedback and reply to the feedback, reading what they say. This also applies to my Governorships, many times I posted the build queue suggestion in the Province thread, many times saw no feedback no suggestions. So what else is there to post? The actually build queues in the the instruction thread. If I don't get much feedback I don't post much in reply. My first two terms had post counts in the main Military thread which was greater then any other government thread at the time. My third term the Military Thread was second (Domestic had 8 pages Military 7). I know, alot of this is talking about DG1, and not my more recent terms, but as I keep on saying I hope to recreate in future terms the success of my earlier terms. I can understand people wondering if I will revive the success of my earlier terms or if it will be another one of my later terms where I did my job, but still had room for improvement.

I know I've said most of this in my earlier post, but like I said I couldn't help but take it a little personally. Even if all you were doing was "detailing my work ethics" I take pride in how hard I work fulfilling my responcibilities. I've seen many people fail out of their majors simply because they didn't want to do the work. One person who 3 days into a major related class saw what the final project was gonna be and switched majors right then and there.

Cyc, I don't hold grudges or anything like that, so you don't have to worry about that, and I know you didn't mean to offend me in anyway. But, when you challenge something that I take such pride in, and I can't look at what your pointing to and say "yeah he's right, I gotta improve on that" I can't help but be a little hurt by that. I look at "the evidence" including my own memories of those terms, and I can't see it as "proof" of what you say. Yes I had some failings those terms, and to be honest I don't mind you pointing out the fact that I resigned those two Governorships and "resigned" from Military Leader one term. I've defended myself from those fairly well I think, and I still contest that the Military Leader one actually counts against me any more then any time off you, CT, Donsig, Eyrei, Octavian, etc... had to take off for Real life obligations and thus missed 1-2 turnchats. Sometimes you must take off for Real life, regardless of where that comes in your term.

Anyway I'm starting to rant back and forth so I'll wrap this up. Even though no harm was intended it hurt, and I still strongly disagree with any accusation that I "neglected" my duties. And, yes I know I'm the only one who's used the word "neglected" that word, but it seems it's essencially what your first post was saying.

EDIT: ACK
I need to get some sleep and stop posting such long rants....

Im glad to hear that as since we are going to go for diplo victory apparently I intend to use that to good effect :)

This is a very, very close contest. Remember, those who haven't voted yet, every vote counts. At the time of posting, there was only two votes between the two leading candidates: Sarevok and Falcon02, with Sarevok leading by two votes.

BTW, I voted for Falcon02.
