Term 1

Trade Leader: Chieftess
Deputy: Great Iguanaman
Chat Rep: -

Welcome to the office of Trade for term 2! In the spirit of term two, I will bring back my 'mission' from term 2 of the first demogame! (with some changes)

Mission

1 - Domestic Trade

In coordination with the Domestic and Military Departments, we will assess the needs of trade resources to keep our citizens happy, while determining the needs of our allies.

2 - Foriegn Trade

a) To avoid trading to civs items which may be passed to enemies to their benefit.
b) To prevent enemies from trading critical resources with other countries.
c) It may be desirable to disrupt potentially hostile trades, especially if "the friend of our friend is our enemy" or encourage cordial ones.
d) Clarification will be sought with the Foreign Affairs Department over our trading stance towards each country depending on current and future desired relations with that country.

3 - Tech Trade
The trade department opposes the trade of any strategic techs if a tech should fall within a resource or luxury trade, unless the tech benefits us with maintaining a competative edge with our neighbors.

4 - Acquisistion of Resources
In the event we need any resources to keep our citizens content, or for our defense, we will consult with the Foriegn and Military Departments.

5 - General Matters of Trade
If the voice of the citizens and citizen groups are strong enough, we may consider pursuing the desired resource and/or luxury.

...that was short! :D Congrats to both of you!

Ok, Great Iguanaman, make sure you read this thread often, and see how the trade departments runs. :D First step is resource assessment - which will be short since we don't know the land area of other civs. Then it's a Trade Table. I will be making both today - watch closely.

Great Iguanaman: This will also be a learning experience. :) Here's the major areas of the Trade Department:

Trade Table - Check to see which trades are available between us and tradable nations. Do so both ways (i.e., what they want for our items, and what they want from us for theirs). Then try to bargain for the best price. It also involves checking other civs to see what they offer. (whether it's similar, or if they have something another civ doesn't have).

Resource Assessment - This is a huge info sheet of what resources are availible, and which civs have them. Much of it can come from the Historical Statistics Thread (if it's updated).

Polls & discussions - Back when I was trade leader in the first demogame, polls (and discussions) were as standard as they are today. So, after assessing what we need, and possible trades, put them in a discussion thread (especially if it's a huge issue).

Throughout the month, I'll let you do more and more of each section, so at term's end, you're ready for the leader posistion. :)

Week 1 - I will do much of the work to show you how I used to do things. :)

Week 2 - I'll let you start posting polls and discussions.

Week 3 - Trade Tables

Week 4 - Resource Assessment

Then you should be ready. :) (I'll still back everything up, though)

GI: I might not be here on Saturday (I'm going to my grandfather's birthday party at my aunts' house, so I don't know if i'll be back for the turn chat).

Ok Iguana, the 2nd week is here. I'll be posting info here (if applicable), and you will put up the discussions/polls. Be sure to read often. ;)

Great news!! We now have a connection to spices! Also, due to the advent of Writing, many communication trades have opened up! We are set to make contact with the other half of the world, AND, possibly get two or more techs from these communications trade! England is our main suplier. If we play our cards right, we can come out on top.

GI: I will be making a trade table shortly. Discussion info will follow.

hehe.. looking for some spice on your donuts? :)

The FNSD endorses the following trades:

Contact with the Japanese to the English for horseback riding.

Contact with the English to the Indians for writing.

There may be better trades for these two techs. If the trade department is able to negotiate better deals please let us know. The FNSD wants those techs but we realize we should not spend gold to get them as we don't want to jeopardize the warrior upgrade plan.

The thread listing possible tech trades is here:

The Science Department hopes that the trade department will post input on these trades.

sorrie for posting so late...gd luck wif the rest of the term! *feeling nostalgic*

Thanks Zur! Wanna become the chat rep? ;)

Ok, here's the plan. After looking at the possibilities, I believe our best bet lies in a "Meeting of the Worlds". England knows one half, and we know the other (except for Babylon - which is secondary). This is the plan:

We get from England:

All of their contacts (6 in all), Writing OR horseback riding (I prefer Writing), and 29g

We give: All of our contacts. (6 in all)

It goes all out, but it gives more trading potential. Tech trades may even be cheaper because of increased trade of knowledge.

The Babylonians (who apparently seem to be the furthest away) and Horseback Riding will be wagered on in the next round of trade. (yes, that means a pre-turn only turn chat)...

I agree..... I would prefer writing over horseback riding also. This trade through will give us ALOT of more contacts and trading possiblites.(Do we have too stop the game after we make this trade?)
