I was a very good deputy. I believe that it is time for some new old blood in this ministry. Here is my platform.
The most important thing for us to do is to discover Magnetism. This would mean that we have the ability to trade with the other continent. They have a lot of luxuries that we need and we have luxuries that they need. This means that we can do some nice trades with the other nations. Many of the good trades that we did in the first part of this term we are result of my hard work. It is often the hard work of the deputy that makes a minister look good.
Please vote for me to be you new Trade Minister. Many thanks go out to those who have voted for me. At the very least, keep the same winning team.

EDIT2. Why has trade suddenly become the must have position? 4 people are running and if Chieftess had decided to continue with her nomination, that would have made it 5. I think I know the reason. The reason is that since the this term (3) was so well run, that everyone wants to part of a successful minisitry. Another reason to vote for me.

I decided to run for trade because I wanted to start some where and this department
seemed like the ideal choice. It has a fairly large amount of work to do, but it is not controversial. Its like Firemen and Policemen. They both do a lot of work, but policemen (foreign) annoys people by doing things people disagree with like bashing minorities (attacking bordering nations) while everybody loves the firemen (trade) because all firemen want to do is put out fires.
Everyone likes money, and thats what trades here for, If I become trade minister I will be in favour of all trades that make us a profit. I will try to get technology but as we have a tech lead (I think) this wont be so important. Soon we will have trade routes with much of the world and we will be able to trade strategic resources and Luxuries. I will be in favour of any trades that get us these goods. National security and defence is not the responsibility of the trade department, therefore I will be in favour of any trade that makes a profit regardless the politics, regardless of the relations with the other nations.
It is the responsibility of the Military and Foreign departments to lobby the people if the trades are dangerous to national security, and it is the responsibility of the people to vote for what is best for the nation. the responsibility of the Trade department is to Trade.
If elected I post all possible trades, I say what trades I am in favour of and then I will leave the rest up to the will of the people.
When choosing the person you want to vote for most of you look for experience but you cant if no one will elect you in the first place.

I've been called many a nasty thing through all my democracy gaming time, and 'Anti-Japantikan' is a very new one.
Well, I suppose this is the part of post where I get to the campaigning bit. It is my belief that all the candidates before the people of this nation today for the esteemed Trade Ministry are all well qualified to do the job, and would all do exceding well in this post if elected. They have all made many contributions to this game (more so than myself, I freely admit).
I can only run on one platform: reliable leadership. I'd run the Ministry with my style of careful consensus in order to determine an agreeable path to follow where Trade is concerned. This means discussions of overall foreign policy (key to identifying trade partners), and detailed review of possible deals profitable in one way or another to the nation.
My personal idea is that we should always be trading, when profitable to us, irregardless of civilization, unless, of course, we'll be at war with them in the neighborhood of twenty turns in the future. Simple, no?
That said: Vote doughnut - Octavian for Trade!
