Drugs and the US market

As I admit, I believe my position is the most difficult yet the ultimate one. That is, it is going to take the self to say "no" for there not to be an issue (and not someone else forcing me to say no, whether that be by trying to tax or price drugs farther out of existence, or perhaps some more direct intervention).
Again, as an individual, maybe.
As a societal/lawmaking answer, your position is just pointless because it simply does nothing.

American food products contain dozens of ingredients that are banned here for good reasons. The FDA, like most other US regulators, is more concerned with protecting corporate interests, rather than consumer interests.

To add, some of these ingredients used, are 100% unnecessary; they enhance characteristics such as addictiveness, sweetness, softness or color (!).
Trump is going to fix that by getting rid of the FDA.

I'm trying not to get weighted down in where we draw any lines, anymore.
I'm not going to say that alcohol is okay but cocaine is not. Because that's not true.
The potency of any substance is not the relevant factor to me. The question is: do I allow this [thing] to consume my time and energy instead of doing something more productive in my life...(?). That's the same question to the problem of whether someone is addicted to really any of the substances you mention. And the answer is going to be the same across all of those.

"Saying no" is the easiest thing in the world.

Food industry is not concerned with what is necessary for human health. They have a product to sell and selling twice as much as needed all the better.

They don't hide their agenda even, half of ads use the word 'crave', like a corner pusher but with multi-billion dollar marketing budget.

I doubt it. I doubt RFK will reform much. Some of his advocates think he'll 'take on big food' but I doubt he'll stick to any values, he jumped onto Trump bandwagon for power but I doubt he'll actually get to wield any.

He wants to stop virology research for 8 years, rumor from the lab has it.

Implies Kennedy is a covid lab leak believer?

Unfortunate. I do too. He would be taking on the bougie technocrats in many ways, some stupid, others less so(I imagine?) and they will try to disgrace him, and the theory by extension.

Which is bad. I am of the mind that leaks are inevitable and advancements in virology will be inevitably weaponized, either by state actors or lone crazyasses. It has ruin all over it.

That sounds like a silly rumor.
Last November, according to NBC News, Kennedy told an antivaccine group, “I’m gonna say to NIH scientists, ‘God bless you all. Thank you for public service. We’re going to give infectious disease a break for about eight years.’”

The brain worms are controlling him.

I still think he's a wildcard and could end up half decent. But also as a wildcard could be one of the worst of them. Highly variable!

On the topic of drugs, his comment that heroine helped him start getting A's is pretty interesting. He also credits it with nearly ruining his life, and therefore quitting. I still haven't come across a "regular heroine is good for me" ever in my life, but a couple whispers of them including one here on CFC. Opiates really do seem to be mostly the thing they are stereotyped to be, but maybe it's turtles and I'm Klaus just a few ticks over.

That's not what you said (he wants to not study virology)

Anyway, it's not a surprise that Americans are done for a change. US the only developed nation that has experienced a decline in healthy life expectancy since 2010.

When the mainstream doesn't acknowledge things are bad people will side with radicals, come what may, that's just how it goes.

Virology is a subcategory of infectious diseases.
