Terrain graphics: Native american goody huts

Aaglo see's right through me... Not only a great creator but also a discerning joke finder.

Mr. the Great Quan

Hahahah, I actually laughed pretty hard when I read that comment about the metal silo and all... Hahahah, 'twas pretty good.

aaglo, I like it very much, but I guess you could do a little antialiasing (or let's say "blurring" and not use fancy 3D terms here :P) within the graphics themselves. I know, the magenta screws it up when you apply it to the outside, but when you do it in the inner part, then it might actually look more Firaxisish (new vocabulary for ya, "Firaxisish").

Na, I tried to do it myself but it seems like there's no way to keep the magenta fully out when doing the softening. Anyway, it still looks fabulous, though.

Hahaha, what I meant was, that they should be more antialiased. I mean, not from the edges, but from the inside. Like, the detail should've been blurred slightly a little bit more. Maybe?

The magenta smudged in when I tried to do it pretty quickly, but i guess one has to copy and paste it to a background of similar color first.

Long story short; nevermind...

Of course you can use it in any mod you like.

@SpincruS
Look at the image attached.
- in the top there is the anti-aliasign I used for those huts (Aa 0.1). It has the most anti-aliasign pov-ray can offer.
- in the middle are the huts without anti-aliasign. The difference is very huge
- in the bottom is 6 times lighter anti-aliasign (Aa 0.6), and the difference compared to the top isn't so great.

if you want to 'smudge the huts more', you could do this:
1. make a backup pcx of the file I've posted and save the image palette.
2. Select all of the magenta's of this goodyhut file and copy them
3. clear the image, and paste the magenta colours to that image - now you should have a 'mask' with only magenta diamonds with goodyhut-masks on white background. Paint all areas around the diamonds in green. Save this file as pcx (don't change the palette!).
4. open the backup file.
5. increase it's color depth to 16 million and save as bmp
6. make some smudging either increasing&decreasing the image size or some other smudge tool
7. When you're happy, add the original palette to this image.
8. copy the 'mask' on top of this new image with white colour as background - make sure you make it a 'transparent' copy (so the background colour won't be copied on top of the image).

well, you cannot explain things in any more confusing way...

Dude, you shouldn't use my Dudes, Dude...
that's just wrong dude
I can say dude as many times as you like... but there's no much time left before your head explodes on a dude like mushroom cloud.

@aaglo: could you repeat everything you said once more?

I did exactly how you suggested. It doesn't look better when smudged further, though. This version is good anyway :)

I'll just use it as a replacement for the mesoamerica conquest :)

Very nice, maybe you should also create the igloo; you'd be great at that.
