Snoopy's terrain mod works, however I can see every square on the board. I did a clean install of Civ3,patched it to 1.29b2. Then I installed the terrain mod..... I did notice on the download that it was specified for PTW?..There was also a .bix file with it as well. Which I remember isn't particularly useful to us Mac Civ'ers. Is there something that is missing or that I might be missing?
thx

That just means PTW users don't need to install it, because its available through PTW's scenario options. Now the .bix may be the problem, but I didn't notice it myself and Snoopy's terrain mod (greeneer version) works great on my mac. I can't think of anything specific to tell you, other than to go through the steps again and see what happens.

I believe that there was a mod that replaced the 'mask' for the unexplored territories therefore allowing to see the whole map. You probably installed that one at the same time. Sorry I don't recall what is the name of the mod and/or the file that is causing this.
Also if you use a saved game check that it doesn't contain 'multi' (normally this has been fixed in 1.21 and later) - see cheats section of CivFanatics...

The file, that controls what you can see (because you have explored it or got a map of it) is called FogOfWar.pcx.
It's used to change the trancparency of unexplored areas of the map all the way from black to whatever the file tells CivIII it should be. Usually you can find it in a location like this: "your_civIII_directory"/Art/Terrain/FogOfWar.pcx
If it's missing, corrupted or changed you get all sorts of funny/not so funny(e.g. crashes) results.

Excuse me! This is a back-slash-free zone! :p

well I did something kinda bad I overwrote the folders, which coincidentally overwrote the files in the Cities folder and the Terrain folder.
thx to all, maybe next time I will look before I leap....

Damn... got me there... but drag'n'drop is just so convenient and yes, I'm lazy... so sue me... mhm... better don't. :p
Nevertheless as a sign of goodwill I'll change it right away. :D

I've had that problem before. Since that I've gone back to my default behavior of backing up any- and everything.

@Trixter: Consider yourself sued, and don't let it happen again! :p

If you are using OS X, consider using my drag and drop installer. It would install Snoopy's mod in an instant, and put any replaced files in a backup folder that you could reinstate in a similar instant.

AlanH:
Will have to try your drag and drop installer. Might have to try it on the new version of Snoopy's Terrain Mod 4.5. Don't think the marshes will work in 1.29b2, which is too bad they look very good.
I thought it was a backslash free zone anyway.....
as always thx to all

I'm not sure why any specific terrain might fail on 1.29b2, unless it's only available in PTW, of course.

I must confess I haven't been very impressed with the Snoopy terrian screenshots I've seen in the past. It's all a matter of taste, of course, but for me, the sea, forest and jungle look very technicolor and the irrigations look more like patchwork than fields, and they make the coastlines look like they have thatched roofs. If there's a new one out, I'll give it a whirl and see if I like it any better.

I play with the Snoopy's terrain mod and I find it very nice, with some others changes, like the goody huts, mines etc. But is it possible to import to our 1.29b from his C3C terrain mod only the marsh file and how?

Is a marsh a new kind of terrain in C3C? If so then I don't see how it could be added to a standard game in 1.29, as the program can't know it exists.
