Louis XXIV
Le Roi Soleil
My brother was playing a game of Alpha Centauri tonight (I had been playing for awhile, so I decided to let him play). He was the Peacekeepers. He had a pact with Morgan and, after a war with the Hive that didn't really go anywhere, he signed a truce. That's pretty much all that's relavent at this point, but I should point out that Yang is expanding like crazy, fighting both the Guians and the Believers (the Believers are also in a war with the University). My brother was moving some probe teams to some distant area (I think he was targetting the Guians, but it really doesn't matter).
At this point, the Hive has a unit walking all over my brother's territory. Among other things, it was interfering with supply crawlers for wonder building (he completed two wonders). I said that he should expect a war with the Hive soon, but he didn't do too much to prepare. His probe teams discovered that the only way to Guian territory was through the Hive, so he started heading that way (this soon wouldn't matter because the Hive would conquer all Guian bases except for a few islands, so there was no land route).
However, the big reason it wouldn't matter is that, soon after, the Hive declared war. Some mind worms attacked the Probe Teams, and the Hive finished off the survivors, so my brother was pretty much at a disadvantage. He got Morgan to help him, but didn't seem to have much of an offensive. I persuaded him to hurry a plane, since I found air combat pretty useful. He was slowly loosing the front, but I think he was doing better than he could be. He inflicted some success and captured a few units with Probe Teams. Morgan kept giving him units that took forever to be useful. He had huge unhappiness problems, and drone riots changed control of his cities, giving them to Morgan. Since they were pact brothers, he didn't really care (plus, I think he wanted to stop the game since it was kinda late).
Anyway, Yang is pushing closer and, incidentally, just destroyed the Believers. Than he recieved word that Morgan had won an economic victory and, as his ally, he won too. Which I found quite interesting
