The Age of Bombers

Ever wondered why you could upgrade fighters from a regular Spitfire to a Mig 29/F-15, and yet the bomber still remains the lumbering B-17 you started with (until Stealth)? This never made much sense to me. You would've thought that until the age of the B-2 stealth bomber it could be replaced with a B-52, at least.

Just my thought on this feature. What do you think?

Well, use the editor and put one in there. I made a mod for myself some time ago, in which the WWII bombers upgraded to B1 bombers. Somebody did a nice model of the B1, check the units forum for the thread. I gave them slightly lower stats than the Stealth Bomber, no stealth capability and no upgrading them to Stealth Bombers. Since they came earlier in the tech tree, they saw considerable use by both me and the AI. They did an ungodly amount of damage, you could empty out a city of units if you had enough at hand. The AI used them to devastating effect on my navy. If you want a truly nasty air war, that's the way to go.
