Probably it was discussed before but how hard can it be to make it possible. Since the studious likes to make atractive expansions so people will pronto buy it, I say it could be a good idea to make such a big expansion for Civ6.
For better explanation, lets say a second probably victory condition after the space race(moon race) would be a space race to a new system. It could be done the same way with other components or in a different way. Also in order to achieve this you must finish the space moon-ship first in order to go in this direction as well, a bigger space-ship like prometheus, etc.
Once you achieve this and the game doesnt finish(you chosed other future victory conditions) a whole new map loads. The map is very very different and smaller then the earth one. This could be random, but it should be smaller. Also the design of it can go in different ways ala avatar or ala Mars(red deserts), ala Dune, depends how the programers wants it, but it should look different to give you a different experience.
Once there you start building citys again or not citys but futuristic colony types that has small people, etc. You have a whole new tree at your disposal for research, you have different type of buidings and units. Now it doesnt have to be lots of buidings or units but just enough for new things to do and the modders can fill it up afterwards. Some units can be build there and on earth, some units only there. For example you cannot have tanks on the other planet. You will have other unique resources not found on earth, like spice from Dune important for space-travel. You can still find gold for example.
The aspect of it can be very fun. It will allow you another victory type condition. The notion of starting again from scratch, while still having your empire on earth. You can have wars on earth and on AC. While you have a big army on earth doesnt mean you are strong in AC as well, but it can help. Transfering some unique units from earth to AC via gold to strengh it more. It will be a different mechanic and a different gameplay mechanic once you arrive there. There could be hostile animals or even a native intelligent species to give you problems(aka barbarians when the game starts). Your empire happiness and power still counts on earth because you may still need to build heavy long stuff in order to transfer it to the other side, also you need important resources from AC to transfer it back to earth, because some resources like Oil, uranium, even food, energy starts to dissapear. So one depends on the other and the same with other civs. So wars will start again from this problems, so you may be strong on earth but unlucky or week on AC so will attack more from earth to criple the problemtic civ.
Everything what I said it can be done and doesnt involve to much complexity for codding, probably needs a more powerfull PC, dont know.
Since we are taking about some radical new ideas that the studios might blow us away, I think this could be very fun and it brings us other flavour strategy thinking like keeping balance on both locations. Of course you dont have to play there or go in that direction, the classical victory conditions are still available. The game can stop when you either build first the Apollo or Prometheus.
Some new conditions on AC can be the civ who has access to most spices, who controls the whole new planet or who dominates 75% of it, or other ideas.
Opinions?
