"Unfortunately, I am a member of the Anti-Navy Coalition of the United Fanatica, or the ANTIN (ant-in) {ANTI-Navy}. We prefer not to see sea units. We want only those: needed for transportation of ground units to other island, needed for defense, and needed for defense of ground units to be transported to other islands for attack. which, when I play, amounts to a single trireme, and Leo's maybe 2 or 3 boats if I am on an island."

there is a watchers guild, now there is an anti-navy coalition. Its a wing of the illigal KEE Party. Here are our belifs:

*
All we need are transportation units for our land units.

*
Some units are needed for defence. If there is a city that is often attacked by sea units, we should build a sea unit to defend it, of course.

*
Some units are needed for the defence of our gound units, when they go out to attack our enemies.

essentially, we will never need more then 10 sea units, 5 is our optimum number. we make them vetran, and build leo's and watch them sail the world.

any takers?

We live on a island and you want to form an "anti-naval" coalition??
And how the hell can you have ship's in an "anti-naval" coalition??

I think you would be better defined as the Anti-Huge Navy Coalition or the Small Navy Coalition. I don't think we can survive in an island with a small navy. We'll need both coastal guard defense and transport. In the end, we'll have 10-25 sea units anyway.

Btw, happy birthday Pellaken. :bday:

The War Church strongly recommends that we also field a strong navy. For the glory of our Empire lies in the strength of our arms.

It maybe that we are in a world with lots of islands and hence a sizeable navy may be needed to support our land military operations. ;)

One of the greatest pleasures in life is having a battleship prowling the enemy coast destroying settlers and phalanxs while the enemy only has ironclads to defend with. We are on an island, and to my experience CIV2 makes archipeligo maps in almost every case. We will be invading another island before flight, and naval gunfire will be very useful. We have also identified a naval chokepoint already and will want to plug that if possible.

And our explorer's deperatly need ship's to explore the neighbouring continent's.Also ,it's very important to make diplomatic relation's at this time ,so that we can share technoligy our to extort the pittyfull enemy.
I think we need a 4-8 ship to eplore the map ,each of this loaded with diplomat's & explorer's.
A ship i would build when the 4th city is settle'd.

its an anti Navy coalation, not an anti Ship one. like I said, we think we should have a minumim number of ships. all of you keep saying "we are on an island, how can we function without a navy?" I have played a game, prince level, with a civ score of 167% {my best ever} where I took over the entire world... I was on an island, in an arphechlego, (or however it is spelt) and I had 7 ships. 3 tiremes, that become... something, before Leo's died out on me. then I disbanded them in cities, to build a battleship, a carrier, and 2 transports. It is possible to win. I rarley, if ever, have 2X or even 3X the ammount of units then I do cities. I am pretty much anti-military as a whole. when the KEE Party becomes legal, this, and any other coalations I form will be joined to it. Its my belif we can win a game with alot of money and diplomats, just as well as we can win with 100 armour units.

I am pro nuclear though...

the Anti-Navy Coalition, will now officially become the Anti-Military Coalition.

our belifs are extended as so:

Each city should have 2 units defending it or less. if happiness is needed through Martial Law, 3 will be ok.

Forts should be build around our borders with enemies, or near frequent landing points. these forts should have 2 units defending it.

NO city should have more then 6 military units total. under its support {fanatics dont count}

Diplomats/Spy's/Transports are not Military units.

Missle units, Criuse missles, Nukes, are allowed, and even encouraged, but this is NOT a requirement for membership...

The Diplomacy Deity wishes to express his extreme disgust at those who would neglect our military. :hammer: If we were commies, I'd suggest outlawing such an extremeist bunch, but this is democracy...unfortunately :D

Weimar, if your 'best ever' score is 167% at Prince, might I suggest taking a lesser leadership based role in the development of our Civilization ;) This is Civ 2, not real life. Some things work, some things don't.

The War Church finds the ideals of the Anti-Military Coalition highly repulsive and heretical and hereby declares a Holy War on the nefarious infidels. :D We must not let ourselves be weaken by the rot within and shall purge our Empire of all impurities. :D

Pellaken, a defensive unit is still a military unit. Maybe the name Anti-War Coalition will better suit your purposes. ;) And no hard feelings, OK? Cos I am simply roleplaying a fanatical nationalistic militaristic patriot. :)

Anti-War Coalition...
I likes it.

we will from now on me the Anti-WAr-Coalition, or, AWAC {a, wack}

we mist give AWAC. as in givin our opinions, to people. {remember, its pronounced "a, wack"} First of all, its time that we take AWAC to the top. we need to give AWAC to the president, so he can do with AWAC as he pleases. He may even try to give AWAC to other presidents, and can give a big AWAC to the military leader. I would like to give AWAC to the military leader, and AWAC to his deputy as well. soon, all members will be givin AWAC, and they will know what AWAC can do for peace...

^joke BTW, it sounds funny, cause we are giving "a wack", to all these people :)

Cunobelin, you suggest that this isent the real world. you are right, in the real world, I belive a large, powerful, military is needed. in Civ, however, it takes up too much production, especially if support is needed for these units. Also, just cause I suck at Civ, dosent mean that everyone else is a pro. I am sure that this score is better the some can get, but I am also sure that many of you can get better. I will stay where I am for now, as leader of AWAC. Possibly to run for Military Leader in tue future...

~AWAC, a branch of the KEE Party... about half of it actually... when will parties become legal again?

Poppycock. Such drivel is surely an unwelcome addition to discourse within our great empire. A strong Navy is a strong nation, as it is able to dominate high seas trade routes, protect her colonies, and blast those who might otherwise seek to land their ships upon our beaches. Support? What support? We're mere turns away from a Monarchist revolution, which will allow us an easy 4/5 units per city-state. Maintain a noble Navy, else how shall we storm the shores of Zulullia?

Pellekan, you are coming close to getting bounced from this game.

Military matters are fro the President and the military advisor, as you were told, they will run polls, and you have been told repeatedly NO POLITICAL PARTIES.

This is the democracy game, not Pellekan's favorite stratigies.

Do not bring this up again.
