The Battle for New Jersey - PTW

It is the year 2003 and the state of New York has invaded the northern half on New Jersey in an attempt to annex the entire state! The occupying New York junta have just captured the state capital, Trenton, and have their sights set on conquering the remaining half of New Jersey. Resistance in South Jersey is strong and heavily funded by the greater metropolitan Philadelphia area. See if you can take control and conquer your opponent before the Feds step in.

The New Jersey civ is essentially South Jersey and the surrounding Philadelphia metropolitan area and the New York civ is North Jersey along with the 5 boroughs of NYC plus a few surrounding New York cities.

The game is limited to 200 turns and progresses by weeks.

There have also been a few adjustments to the unit and city capabilities.

version 1.4 file was removed after 67 downloads

- Active player is New Jersey and can be changed in the editor.

- Air and sea units possess 'lethal land and sea bombardment' capabilities. Thus making air and naval superiority an importance.

- Helicopters can engage in bombing runs.

- Snipers can use the 'bombardment' feature and are 'invisible'.

- each civ has 2 airfields

- each civ is allotted $300K to begin and the 'build wealth' feature is disabled

- tech tree is set up so that the higher end units (ie modern armor, mech inf, stealth aircraft and cruisers) require final tech advances to build them

Version 1.5 uploaded 10/16/03
new features include:
- win a battle with an 'elite' unit and uncover the authentic leaders for New Jersey and New York
- range of fire for artillery and radar artillery each bumped up 1 to 3 & 4.
- disabled the 'build wealth' feature fro each civ
- gave naval units 'lethal air and land' bombardment capabilities

Nice idea for a scenario. As a New Yorker I will thoroughly enjoy burning Jersey to the ground. One thing though-- why didn't you place any units? If North Jersey was invaded, shouldn't there be invasion forces occupying the territory?

the units have been placed.
2 for each town or smaller municipality
4 for the 3 larger cities/towns and
7 for the large cities (5 boroughs and 4 parts of philly)

preset player is New Jersey. Just change it on the editor. trying to figure out how to post a screenshot too. any clue how to do it?

My bad. The units are invisible in the editor... guess they don't have pediaicons?

As to screenshots, it goes something like this:

1. Use "Print Screen" key to take a shot.
2. Save it in a paint program.
3. Upload the image file to civfanatics.net.
4. Copy the link to the file in the uploads folder.
5. Paste it into your post and put the tags [i.m.g.] and [/.i.m.g.]" around them (without the periods, I needed to add those so it wouldn't make it into an image.)

That should do it.

As an UPSTATE New Yorker, we'd like to sell "The City" and "The Island" to New Jersey, not add New Jersey to our problematic and tax devouring lower end... Not a bad idea for a scenario, though! I'll give it a shot!

we here in south jersey essentially refer to anyone in north jersey as 'new yawkers' anyway. so the concept of the scenario was based on this premise.
i'm sure at some point i'll try and expand or revise the scenario some; ie add units and authentic leaderheads.
but i hope you like it

I would like to see New England (Red Sox) take on NY (Yankees) People in NE don't like NY either.

good job! now make Los Angeles vs San Francisco

thanks Al Zan.
maybe i will do an LA v SF scenario. i'll have to create the map though.
New England v NY is neat too.
Those poor Beantowners. It'd be nice to see them come out on top for once, eh?
I have another cool scenario like this Jersey one in the works.

That's funny --- because we here in north jersey see you southerners as an extension of Philly. To us, Philadelphia is a disease, and as such, should be treated. ;)

Great concept, though!

i guess you're entitiled to your opinions regarding philly. but, one must admit that 'philly's got heart' even though their mayor is a boob.
hope you like the scenario though
