I once started a game with 6 civilization advances and 2 settlers. One of them was Monarchy so i was able to switch goverments turn one.

Before, when I first started playing civ, I checked "Accelerated Startup". I got 6 advances, 2 cities, 4 units in each, 2 settlers, blah blah blah. I thought OH MY GOD! Until I found out my civlization listed as "the hopeless civilization of the Romans" under everything!

I've had a game or two where I started with as many as four of the basic advances (not on accelerated startup) above and beyond Irrigation/Mining/Roads. There were two other baby civs really close by.

Becuase my topic was looking a little thin, i thought i might replt to it.

The case where i got 6 civ advances was not an accelerated start-up. But the second city i built was overrun by the Zulus so i was upset.

I once had a game like that. I started with some great advances, like Monarchy, The Wheel, Writing, etc. and whooped some arse.

Over the last month or so, I've been starting every Deity game I play with 2 settlers. I'm wondering if I accidently hit something in rules.txt, but needless to say, it's really cool.

Due to my lack of paitence, if i dont have 2 settlers and some good terrain, a nervous twitch in my arm quits the game on me and i have to start again

Funny, that must be some sort of epidemic. The bacterium breeds freely around my mousepad.

And becuase of this lack of patience of mine, i always play a LAN game, by myself, so i can get the 2x production and movement
