A simple but important (to me) question:

Is it considered cheating to completely remove the nuke from the game? :nuke:

(I've did this and I find the game much more enjoyable, as I found the nuke to be a bit overpowered in the first place...)

If you play an official game (like GOTM or for the HOF) there are certain rules you need to follow, including using original game-files. If you play for your own enjoyment, it's all up tp you.:)

I agree with you that nukes are annoying, but usually I'm so far ahead of the AI in techs that I don't have to worry about them.

Manhattan Project is the #1 Wonder I go all out to stop being built. I usually delay getting NucFiss till just before SpaFli, and avoid gifting it to anyone except the civ my SSC has RR trade routes with. If anyone gets it I watch them carefully and if they start a Wonder, even a different 600-shield one, I slip Spies in to sabotage their progress. If they seem determined, they get taken out.

I'm not sure if you can legally "turn off" nukes without editing the default config files. There are some things you can change in "Scenario Mode" (part of the Cheat Menu); take a look around there for a way to disallow nukes.
