At this moment in time, the people of the Ottoman empire would quite gladly swap their Mongol infested lands for a peaceful island life. The war hungry Mongol hords home in on Istanbul. Demands to leave the Ottoman territory are ignored, and the Mongols declare war. Can the brave Ottoman army survive the assult? Only time will tell......

The Mongols captured the Ottoman Capital Istanbul in the IBT. A reg Mongol warrior (-1HP, 2/3) and reg archer (-2HP but promoted, 2/4) defeated a defending reg spear and reg warrior. This is a sad time for the Ottoman people.
A quickly retreating reg warrior (2/4) bravely attacks the Mongol Archer while Istanbul is plundered. Surprisingly,the city is liberated (warrior -1HP, but promoted to Elite 2/5), but with the superior Mongol army the liberation will be short lived. The Mongols would not even talk to the Ottoman envoy.
Dark days indeed.

At Emperor level the AI start with additional units and only pay 80% of the build cost so you need to be very careful in the early stage of the game. Hell I got plundered by Barbarian warriors. Because the AI will perceive most Human players as weak they are quite likely to attack. Admittedly the Mongols did get a bit of luck in their attack though.
IOW Everyone needs to be vigilant with regard to AI neighbours.

I play emperor level most of the time on single player, but I have not known an AI to beeline directly for me with all of their might. The RNG was also not kind as my defending spear was taken out by a warrior and the remaining warrior was dispatched by an archer. I was hoping with a 2v2 unit battle to at least survive the first round.
I think my involvement will be short lived in this game. But I have learnt to be more watchful of the Mongols in future. Maybe this is why Superslug has such a hatred for them.

As expected Istanbul was recaptured by the Mongols. However, the brave defending warrior survived one attack. The writting is on the wall for the Ottomans.
