Chieftain
I can scarcely recall what happened on that horrid day, I started Civilization III and began to play a map -- I don't remember which type, I started in a grassland, to my west was the sea and to my east was the great Chinese Empire. I began expanding in each direction, my borders and China's borders met, this was only the beginning of a troubled future...
I sent a unit; a military unit, into China's borders to expand my knowledge of the world: for cartography. It was a sorry move; the Chinese Leader sent a messenger to my capital city: Paris, I believe, the boy said to me "Your majesty -- o great king of France! Hark, I ask ye, I bear a message from my great leader, hark! It says 'Dear King Zak of France, I am your concerned neighbour. You've dealt a thoughtless blow against us, you have sent thine armoured men unto the peaceful and benevolent nation of China, we shalln't tolerate it. I ask of you, unlearned king, to withdraw thine swordsmen from mine borders, if you shalln't do this, it is thus a justified reason to declare war upon my intruders.' That's all sire, what say you?" I looked at the screen in annoyance, and I clicked "Very well, I will withdraw my troops" and the lad left.
I began then to dislike China, yet I didn't want to be in a war against them. According to the "studies" that scholars made; China was the most powerful nation that I knew of, and even my ill-tempered military adviser suggested that China was much too powerful to defeat, they were very advanced in technology, whilst I was still struggling to modernise myself.
Before I could get my young and inexperienced swordsmen returned back home, China became impatient; "That's it!" they said "You actions have forced me to declare upon you war!", blerry awful, they are. Well I tried my hardest to thwart them and sign a peace treaty, they were awfully determined to punish me; they destroyed many of my cities, and annexed much of my territory. I decided then that I would not win the war, so I sent word to the Emperor of China to meet me at Paris, I assured him that he could bring however many troops he wanted with him...
"What do you want?" growled the emperor with a countenance of anger, "My empire cannot defeat you; you've shown your superior military technologies, I hereby grant you the absolute and irreversible leadership of France." The game was then ended, and China was indeed the most powerful nation on Earth, according to the end-game screen.
