I had to go with the Conquistador. Now that is a unit that makes me laugh my arse off upon sight.

That would be moi, The Last Conformist. The panzar comes sooooo late in the game that you don't get a chance to use it. The wars usually (at least for me) come earlier in the game when you're still using archers and warriors are stil a bit viable. But my least fave is probably the F-15 because it comes even later and it is only OK.

Oh yeah, note to person who started this poll:

If you mean that this is the 4th worst UU, its spelled "fourth" not "forth." ;)

Superevie :king:

what? war chariots not there? by the time id get around to using them the other civ would have spearman

cossack. Its not really any better than cavalry.

For me its close between Bowmen and Musketeer, but I voted for Musketeer.

Bowmen, but with the Conquistador a close second. I found it mildly usefull as a raider in my one game as the spanish.
War chariot is rightly left off the list, it kicks arse in the early game.
I actually like the Gallic swordsman, but agree that it is grossly overpriced and therefore next to useless. The Numid is the same. Besides I believe that Hannibal had Numid horsemen, not spearmen.

I vote for the Musketeer. Increased attack value !!! what for ?

Both the bowman and the war chariot trigger the GA far too early. IMHO the panzer triggers the GA at the perfect moment! Production rockets and your most productive cities are able to crank out a new panzer every new turn for 20 turns. That wins the game, easily.

I don't agree that the war chariot triggers the GA too early. On levels below deity you are going to overpower your enemy with lots and lots of war chariots. The can be unstoppable in numbers. Just make sure that you have enough cities (6 or 7 I'd say on a standard map).

Well I am generally against early GA's. Have had one too many GA's in the Industrial age so now I am spoiled with hyped production... Did play the Babs the other day and triggered the GA during despotic reign and I was totally lost... I don't think I got the best outta that GA.. :(

EDIT: I went OT with this one. Sorry.

I voted Musketeer, though it does have the (sole) redeeming feature of allowing a GA at (IMHO) the best time.

As an aside, I quite like the additional defense of the Cossack. Invariably I go to war when I get Military Tradition, and use the Cavs, Cossacks or Sipahis to try to take out one or two other civs. Because I'm attacking, and because of their movement, they always get well in advance of my defensive holding troops who are following up. As a result, when any counterattack comes, the defensive stat of the unit is brought into play, and the Cossack is just that bit tougher than the ordinary Cavalry. With more surviving, or just staying healthier, the attack an keep its momentum for longer.

I vote for Musketeer.

I definatly agree 100%. Giving an attacking UU an extra D point is always better then giving a defensive UU an extra A point! Eventually your attacking units will have to defend themselves(especially if their movement is above 1). But you'll never attack with a defensive unit(unless very, very drastic measures are needed)!

My 2c for the day........

Voted for War Elephants. I always get horses by Chivalry so the unit has no special feature. Keshiks would be close as well.
