Just researched whatever it is you need for the Louvre (archeology?) and yet I can't build the Louvre.

The highlight on it on the tech tree says it 'requires exploration'.

????

Exploration is a Social Policy branch that you must unlock in order to build the Lourve.

The same goes with the Hanging Gardens for Tradition, Forbidden Palace for Patronage and the Statue of Liberty for Freedom. All social policy branches and Ideology choices have a unique Wonder.

To reiterate
Tradition: Hanging Gardens
Liberty: The Pyramids
Honor: Statue of Zeus (which was placed in BNW for free)
Piety: The Mosque of Djenne
Patronage: The Forbidden Palace
Aestethics: The Uffizzi
Commerce: Big Ben
Exploration: The Lourve
Rationalism: The Porcelain Tower
Ideology : Freedom: The Statue of Liberty
Ideology : Order: The Kremlin
Ideology : Autocracy: The Prora

This is a bridge too far in complexity. I'm tempted to uninstall BNW it's just too complicated and I really don't enjoy it that much.

Don't give up! I agree that associating certain wonders with Social Policies is silly and outdated but I really think you will enjoy the game eventually.

Make things simpler, for example: turn off Barbarians if they are ruining your life... but don't give up on Civ as a whole!

There are "Advanced Start Settings" that bring you to this window that some players never seem to find, CUSTOMIZE:

Are you trolling or serious?

BNW is still dumbed down compared to Civ4.

I'm not sure how that's complex but. As people have said you only need to open the opener in order for the wonder to unlock.

It allows people to get these wonders without needing of rushing i.e only people who go for Liberty will built the Pyramids.

This also means that it grants people the ability to open Policies they wouldn't think of opening before.
