The map generator?

on random maps in civ 2, i dont mind the stringy stuff...you can build cities to make canals where they get really thin...but i hate it when the comp builds a city right next to where a good canal would be...so when you conquer their city....you dont get the canal...

Seems to me an improved map generator is in order, one more like where you plant land seeds that grow into continents and merge. The stringy CivII ones were horrible! But, since they already have that engine down, maybe it can be a bullet option when you create a new map: Old Style Spaghetti Map <click here>

Completley off topic but someone said a while back that the Incas were a civilisdation in the Jungle and then someone else said (no I havent worked out how to get those quote things yet) that they were spread out in little villages in the jungle

This just gets to me - your wrong, completley wrong

, the Incans lived in the mountains and had very few of their settlments in Jungles and those that were had large areas of land cleared around them ample space for farming.

Anyhow on topic - I actually quite liked the civ2 map generator (another with FW) and found tis only annoying tendcey was to make lots and lots of marshes and not enough blocky continents if you asked for continenets

I am too hoping for a better map generator.

What I used to do in Civ 2 is generate the map. then edit and take out the stringness and make more conitents, etc... Then save it in a folder called random maps. Then when ever I needed them I went into that folder and picked one.

It worked well because I never saw the map long enough to memorize it and it could be 2-3 months after I edited it before I played it.

We can call this "Stop-Gap Method One" if the map generator isn't what we hoped for!
