The People's Delegation

Welcome to all our new members. This is growing surprisingly quikly. Huzzah!

Before I say anything else, I would just like to say that this is not, nor will ever be, a political party.

I would like, however, to ask all members to vote for those who have made it a major part of their platform to give the people as much power as possible in their job. This is the basis of the People's Delegation, so I think that it is reasonable to ask that those who joined vote for those who have adopted the Delegation's doctrine as their own. I'm not too sure who those people are myself, so I'd like them to post here. I'm obviously one of them, but there should be a good number of other people who, with your votes, would give as much of their power to the people as possible.

Citizens,

I would like to propose that the people's delegation actively support the introduction of preferential voting. I believe that the current system is not as completely democratic as it could be, an example below

Candidate A believes in tactic A
Candidates B, C and D believe in slight variations of tactic B

Under the current system, everyone votes for their preferred option. Let's say the outcome is as follows:
A: 12 votes
B: 3 votes
C: 7 votes
D: 11 votes
Total 33 votes

The result is that candidate A wins, even though his/her preferred tactic is the preferred tactic of only 36% of voters (the actuality may be more or less extreme than this).

I quote goal 6. "To ensure that the demogame remains as democratic as possible."

I ask you, fellow citizens, is this as democratic as possible?!?!?!?!

If I make no sense, feel free to hit me over the head and I'll try to clarify

Well , there is a ban on political parties and people vote for the candidate, not for the party or the tactic, yet, the tactic gives an idea of problem solving skills.

The tactic may be a bad example. I'll try another:

10 people wish to research Pottery, then Bronze Working, then Iron Working
10 people with to research Bronze Working, then Iron Working, then Pottery
11 people wish to research Ceremonial Burial, then Horseback Riding, then Pottery

The wish of the people is that 3 techs onwards, we have Pottery, Bronze Working and Iron Working. This is what the majority wants. What happens, however, is that we start researching Ceremonial Burial, then we research Horseback riding (as it will win the second vote 11-10-10 against Bronze Working and Pottery, then Pottery (as it wins 21-10 against Bronze Working)

You're to late with your manifest Civman2004 :p I voted already. So many polls and everywhere are standing the same people. I think it's unfair. In my opinion one citizen should be able to be candidate on one position

I intend to use preferential voting for city site selection, though only because it not only gives what to settle, but also the order. I think its a bit complex to use for everything.

And pretty much any citizen group with a forum political agenda is a lobby or party. :p

I would also like to join this group. Although I am probably more of an elitist monarchist by nature, I will work with the members to be a democratist, in the game at least. :D

Sign-me up, Scotty!

Actually take me off the list. I've signed up for so many citizen groups that I can not keep track of all of them

I just noticed this group. This is what the demogame should be about. Sign me up.
