Yes, the prod city!

We frequently talk about the science city, but what about this one?

Having a prod city(a city were the prod is 15 or more) in the "early" times of the game (50 first turns at my eyes) is very useful:
  • The prod city let you produce big cost unit rapidly
  • it let you build wonder VERY rapidly (10-15 turns)
  • In the same way, it permit to build rapidly city improvements such as libraries, universities, laboratories, banks, stock excjanges, and market if this is also your science city (not impossible !)
the best conditions for a prod cities are, for far I can say:
    • Great numbers of hills, plains and forests
    • presence of good prod/trade (the combination is the best, for example: mined Wine) ressources: whales, coal, musk ox, iron.
    • Some grassland(with shields, if possibles) and wheat are very interesting for grow
    • It's the place where you build(of course!!!!) King Richard's Crusades and other shields improvement (Offshore platforms)
    • Finally, having silk, wine or even furs and Ivory are very acceptable because they let your prod city be also your science city
This is only what came to my mind when I try to describe the prod city, so it is not necessarily well organised, post here for note and comments: they are the welcomes!!!

Ouiii!!!

Je fais toujours ca. Mais comme il y a un problem avec les boucliers je supporte mes unitées par d'autres villes. La ville-production se trouve toujoyrs au centre de mon empire

Yeeah!!!

I always doo that. And since there is a problem with suporting units my production city is always linked to my others w/RR . I usually build in in the center of my empire

Don't forget to build Shakespeare's Theatre there too--you can then build a HUGE force under fundamentalism, switch to democracy and voila! no unhappiness ever.

(THought I'd get some French in there too. Are you Canadian by any chance, Az?

I think having the theater in your Prod-city is a good thing...

No I'm not canadian. I'm greek (from my father) and french (from my mother)

Yeah, it's better indeed in this case to have you prod city as a hub and the other ones around like spokes. Just connect them with road, then produce-transfert-produce-transfert, etc... Don't forget to set the new home for each unit if you're under democracy.
