The use of armies still eludes me. The book says you have to load them like a ship. I have moved them to a city and used the "create army" icon. There seems to be no difference except the icon....

Obviously I am doing something wrong here. The AI seems to have no problem kicking my butt with armies.

I could use some help here.

Thanks!

Don't confuse the Great Leader with an Army, though it sounds as if you have already converted a Great Leader into an Army. The next move doesn't require being in a city, and the action belongs to the unit you want to join to the Army. Move the unit to be joined into the tile with the Army. If it has movement left, you will see a new button on the control panel for that unit to load it into the Army. Once loaded, it can't be unloaded or upgraded.

Have fun!

One other question though unrelated to thread title:

How do you get the screen shots I see all the time?

On your keyboard there should be a key that says "Print Scrn", and then a line under that, and under the line "SysRq." Hold shift and then press that key. Next, minimize the game. (If the game isn't in a window you can do this by holding and pressing Alt and Tab.) Go to a picture editing program (Paint, PhotoShop, Photo House, etc.) and click Edit and then Paste. The picture of the screen at the time of when you pressed Print Scrn should appear, and then save the picture and you're done! :)

Oh, and questions like these belong in the Newbie Questions thread in Civ3 General Questions. This is because many users don't want the forums filling up with simple questions like these, but instead "hot" topics.

i had trouble loading armies.... to load an armie, take your amie to a city. At that point, select a unit and have it as a viewed unit. On the buttons below will be a button for load or hit L for load

But like Zachriel said, I don't think the army has to be in a city for units to be able to upload into it.

Since the original question has been answered, and you made me think of another one that doesn't deserve a whole thread of it's own, I might as well hijack this one and ask:

How do you play Civ3 in a window? It always changes my resolution to 10x7 and takes up the whole screen. I can't minimize it or access my desktop, though if I have anything running, I can Alt-Tab to it, and I can use my Start menu. Can't use my little dealies on the start bar, or the Tray either, and if a window is outside that 10x7 area, there's no way I can get it without quitting the game.
