A chat I had today with the Foreign Minister of C3B today. It was VERY interesting.

WAMMO! We have a major problem on our hands. If another civ builds the great library, and the poposed Tech treaty goes though, bad things will happen when a 3rd civ meets the two of us that has the Great Library. And since we know of another alliance on the far side of the world, they will share it with their ally. Then we lose the tech advantage and it will be a very very hard battle. I think we should try to build it ASAP, maybe in a city that is not making SoZ. Since C3B is already considering two wonders and has less fertile land we should take the initiative to build it.
 
So because C3B takes the good wonders away we should build the GL? Come on...The GL is already obsolete at education, so I don't think it's such a big deal. By the time that we reach them, or they reach us, it will be almost obsolete.

Besides, if the people on the other side of the ocean also have a tech agreement, they might build it as well.

But it would be madness to build the GL, because of the reasons you stated above. C3B is considering 2, but we are actually building 1! If they want to, they can build it, but we're not going to waste many shields in a lost project like that!
 
The Great Library is much too expensive and would seriously hamper our growth.
 
I really don't see anyone on the other continent devoting production to a huge project such as the great library while at war...
 
Only one of the allies are at war, probably. The other one is researching techs for both of them.
 
Oh and I don't think we should build GL, though it's one of my fav wonders:p

Well I don't care who builds it, just as long as it is built OR, like Rik said, we go warp speed on education.
 
A terrible wonder for our situation. If c3b is worried ,they can build it. Let us get something more worthwhile!
 
If we got to education "warp speed" the one with the Great Library will still get everything up to and including Education. I don't know guys. :undecide: You're right it's a worthless wonder - if we or C3B would build it it's only to make sure one of the others don't get it. That's no fun, but it might indeed be necessary.

But we have a long time to think about it. :) I don't think they'll have the Great Library finished before they meet us in any case.
 
IMO, TGL is absolutely useless in PBEM. Also, we are apparently very far behind in techs versus the other continent. First, they have 3 civs there. Which means research is somewhat faster. Second, they probably went to Republic gambit and are now at Republic already researching 2-3 times faster than we are. Third, they are ahead of us in score and probably bigger, which again means faster research. Fourth, they are probaly controlling its build and have something as a pre-build. Hence, if they know we are ready to build it, they would built it themselves and we waste huge number of shields. And it is very expensive. We better build more military units and ships. Just imagine an army of 12 JT arriving on 6 galleys! And another 2 galleys with AC. This is the price we have to pay for TGL.
