This is a spin off of the worst song thread...what covers of songs do you think would be...HORRIBLE! Note that Shaq could also apply to all of the songs listed.

My list is below. Note the list is the song, the original recorder, then the covering artist (or lack therof,) not the original performer.

THE LIST

"867-5309" (Tommy Tutone) covered by Eminem

"Sunshine, Lollipops, and Rainbows" (Lesley Gore) covered by Kenny Loggins

"The Reflex" (Duran Duran) covered by N'Sync and/or generic boyband with faces like Cabbage Patch dolls

"Copacabana" (Barry Manilow) covered by Culture Club

"Breaking The Law" (Judas Priest) covered by Fleetwood Mac

"London Calling" (The Clash) covered by S Club 7

"Billie Jean" (Michael Jackson in 1982) covered by Michael Jackson in 2002.

and finally, "Don't You Forget About Me" (Simple Minds) covered by Marylin Manson.

If any of them ever do this...they'll be sorry. :sniper:

Hmmmm. So many.

My current annoyance is the new Justin Timberlake single where he sounds like a castrated girl (if that makes sense).

"The Long and Winding Road" by The Beatles (covered by Will & Gareth). Not only did they completely ruin a brilliant song but they covered a Beatles song. A Beatles song! Have they no shame?

I concur MrPresident it is a shamful thing to cover a Beatles song espeacially so badely but may I draw your attention to another terrible cover, human natures cover of father and son, a similiar story

I really hate "Shout" by Tears For Fears covered by some band... Maybe someone here knows its name.

Wow!

I have all the releases of Judas Priest's, but I never knew that those hippie crooners Fleetwood Mac done a cover of Breaking the Law....

Man, talk about biting off more than you can chew! Lucky they didn't do 'Machine Man'...
Those old beatniks would have a heart attck trying to play real Rock and Roll!

:D

I think all those new manufactured bands should be flogged for ruining good songs, write yer own tunes!

That ponce boy band freak from the UK who done a cover of 'Light my Fire'...ugh.

I don't listen to the doors, but I respect their vision enough to know that cover was blasphemy!

same here, how dare they?

another really bad cover I heard awhile back was a cover of ZZ-Top's "gimme all your loving" (don't know who did this), ugh.

Aaargh! This isn't about REAL covers, this is about FAKE ones that you think would be really, really bad.

In regards to real ones, I once heard a CD where Leonard Nimoy sang "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds." Hilarious!

oh, maybe this explains why I have never heard of the priest cover. :D

here's one that would surely be horrible: angel of death (slayer) covered by any boy-band, not that they would ever try this, but still...

"Let it be" by anyone. I would just love the irony of it all.

You obviously haven't heard of the Laibach tribute then. They re-recorded the entire 'Let it Be' album, not just the song!

i don't think there is anything worse than aging artists making covers of their own songs.

Too Bad,
Mrs Robinson(simon and garfunkle) covered by Old Blue Eyes, Thats right Sinatra(BAD)

Actually, I prefer covers, as all of the great songs have already been written.:p

I also remember suddenly needing to go to the toilet or strech my legs when the Grateful Dead would launch into some Dylan Covers(not all of them) Most notably: Desolation Row, All Along The Watchtower, Queen Jane Approximately, (Stuck in side of Mobile) With Those Memphis Blues Again. Great Songs, I just didn't like the Dead's version.

Nelly and Eminem collaborating on a Hey Jude cover, with the video featuring a stripping model as 'Jude'. Now that would be the end of music, forever. Or, if music continued, it would just be noise that made your ears bleed. :D ;)
