There is no Question that the A.I. Cheats

My god! I can't believe someone resurrected this thread! And it is one step from a flame war....

Anyway, the AI cheats are certainly annoying, but they are nothing compared to the save/reload cheat that the human has....

Nope, in this case the AI does cheat. I was playing a game this weekend (Emperor, huge map) where I decided that I wanted to get the pyramids. So after having my capital produce a three warriors, two settlers and a temple I started building the pyramid's. With three turns to completion the Greeks beat me to it, the year was 900 BC. Ok, I'm ticked off, so I decide to do little test, I reload at 3400 BC, and change the strategy. My capital only produces a warrior, settler and a temple, and I maximize production/population at my capital. Guess what, the Greeks beat me to it again, this time with two turns to go, the year was 1450 BC. I had no contact with the Greeks when I started this project, how did they know to start even earlier than they did last time?

I believe the 'random' seed also affects this. Any minor difference you make in unit movements (like moving your worker before moving your scout, or moving a unit to a different tile, or on a different turn) changes the seed. The seed seems to affect what the AI does also, not just combat results and what you get from goody huts.

Examples: I played a game, and after I had built two scouts, a Russian scout appeared just outside my city. I had a road leading to that scout, but no warriors built yet. So, I reloaded and built a warrior instead of the second scout (to sneak attack the Russian scout!). The Russian scout never showed. And I had never made contact with the Russians for them to suspect that I would have attacked their scout.

Later on, a scout came upon a French warrior (I had all scouts on 'auto-explore'). After a turn or two, I reloaded to the turn just before finding the french warrior. Moved one unit to a different spot (not any of the scouts), and I never did find the French, but another scout found Germany instead.

Take a look at all the GOTM's. Everyone played on the exact same map, but the wonders get built by the AI at different dates, and different AI's end up being the power-houses. And some of these happened before the human would have had any affect on world politics, whatsoever.

This is your first relevant and worthwhile contribution to this thread. As for the "human cheat," it's a figure of speech. Obviously the player isn't breaking any rules, but the fact that a human makes better use of his leaders is a huge advantage over the AI.

Think we are all going mad...

According to your figure of speech, if I play better than the AI does, I'm cheating???? My definition of "cheating" includes breaking rules, and of course I'm not doing so in any way.

And for the SAVE/RELOAD cheat, the only usage i make of it is reloading after clicking the wrong button...such as giving away a tech instead of asking for something in exchange:mad: my pulse is sooooooooo bad:cry:
