Things I learned about the science of warfare through Civilization IV

480) In Civ4, communism is the best government, where people are happy, research blossoms, production goes through the roof and there are a lot of soldiers fooling around, killing and looting.
481) It's possible to run a Free Speech/Police State country. As in the old joke:
-In America, we have freedom of speech - says Reagan. - Everyone can go to the White House and scream: "Reagan Go Home!".
-Meh. Soviet Union is the same - says Gorbachev - everyone can go to The Kremlin and scream: "Reagan Go Home!".

In 482 you mean whipping? I think that was more like working your pop (slaves) so hard they get [whatever] done faster but die in the process.

484) Troops aren't trained in barracks etc. Instead they are fitted with a chip slot (even in 3000BC). Just before a battle the commander issues them with chips that when inserted in the chip slot give them the knowledge to attack cities or archers or axemen etc more effectively. Fighting in battles installs additional chip slots that may be used at the commanders discretion.

485) Its much easier for cavalry units to learn to see further than other units. This is because they only need to stand up in the saddle whereas infantry have to be taught to climb up a nearby tree.

edit: Recon units find it very hard to learn to see further. This is because they rarely survive the process of repeatedly running up to foes and being beaten to within an inch of their lives that is required before anyone will teach them to climb trees.

486) Terrain does not affect armour or cavalry in the way it should;
487) My soldiers are giants, and so are bears;
488) Crappy arcade-styled graphics don't do anything for the combat ability of my units.

489) While all weapons can kill horses the Spear, Pike and the Rifle do it very well.

Recient analysis shows that their leaf shape is atracted to the over worked heart of the horse, feels sorry for it, and procedes to end its life.

Cavalry, however, uses ellipitcal bullets. All but the cossaks, who use recycled spear heads stuck to their horse's ansectors in their guns. :p

EDIT

490) Infantry can kill other infantry very well because they are the only ones that use hollowpoint tracers. However, while this also increase slightly their chances against light armour. Tanks can bulldoze them. There is a meeting on why the hollow points don't work on others but they are dismissed as 'Hearthans.'

:offtopic: you can use slavery + US; Slavery is "Labor" and US is "Legal."

491.) Only train Grenadiers that actually know how to throw things accurately. ...:D

489) While all weapons can kill horses the Spear, Pike and the Rifle do it very well.

Accually this is historically accurate, especially when considering defense. Spears and pikes let you hit the horse and more importantly its raider from a longer distance than sword or axe. Which is quite important because raider is higher and therefore further from you than any infantryman. You can say that so does an arrow but it's really not that easy to hit a fast mowing target with it.

I did not mention arrows. They are triangular shaped.

Howevre, I did explain how Rifles do it well. This is Puesudo Science.

I meant that you can say that it's possible to hit a horseman from further away with arrow. And there were leaf-shaped arrows.

I mean in the history not in the game.
492) Proving that the world is round increases the speed of wind blowing in your sails.

494) The Nile did not allow growth of Egypt. In fact, it poisoned everyone. The only reason Egypt flourished was because they were able to run into the desert to escape the poison of the floodplains.

Well they had so much food they could keep whipping the unhealthy people away and put the overflow hammers into early pyramids ;)

This was originally posted by troytheface on Nov. 15 in Strategy and Tips but the thread was closed. I thought the content fit well with this thread.

"Unfortunately the strategic planners in the U.S. did not play enough Civ.
They over expanded and built to many buildings. They made poor diplomatic
decisions so they can't trade pigs for silk , overrated gold and did not have a
enough oil resources.
They attacked with an overseas invasion way far away and took a city on another continent that is under constant culture pressure and the cost is astronomical. They tried to spread christianity and judaism to countries running Theocracy with Islam. They attempted to enforce Emancipation, Representation, Free Speech and Free Religion to Civs geared to work with other civics.
Walking the streets to a whistle-like sound and dissappearing workers, and riot chants as
others tech ahead.
I suggest that those in control would have fared much better had they read any of the Attacko articles."
