Thinking about getting the game.

That's ridiculous! What you are saying is that no diplomacy is a good thing, because it makes the game more challenging.

You should be able to have allies and fair trade from those allies.

What you are saying is ridiculous not mine. We have a very different perspective on how AI diplomacy should work. I prefer a human like ( sneaky, opportunistic) AI diplomacy. You on the other hand, want something artificial and gamey to exploit.

Allies and fair trade is artificial and gamey? :crazyeye:

Don't play dumb, you know what I am saying. Alliance and trade are still an option with human like AI diplomacy, but it is not like being best bros for ever and ever. For example, In multiplayer games, human players form alliance or trade; however, everything can collapse with how the game progress.

i have no problem having allies and fair trades in the game. at least until i get too strong

best friends forever and religious zombies from civ 4 are artificial and gamey, yes.
i felt like cheating each time i backstabbed one of them

What Intel graphics do you have? If you have the HD4000, then Civ 5 will run just fine with lower settings

As it is the game now, you are given a free pass to do whatever you want for at least 100 turns. Is that not gamey? I mean if I could take your capital I would take it turn 1!

You mean in BNW? I didn't have much time to play the new expansion yet, but I hear that is what some people say about 1st 100 turns. Hopefully, it is not true since I prefer more challenges and attacks from AI. And you are more than welcome to come and try taking my capital in 1st turn.

Civking has it spot on. Yes it is annoying that no matter how hard you try to suck up to an AI they still backstab you eventually, but this is how we humans act in the game. We are all waiting for the chance to annihilate the opposition by suddenly turning on a long term friend. The aim of the game is to win, not be permanent friends with everyone for the whole game. The way the AI acts is not ideal. but is far more challenging than one that is simply duped into believing we are their best friends who will never harm them.

Now you are playing gamey :D

I said, had the opportunity existed would not a player take it? The AI in BNW certainly wont (in the first 100 turns). I had lost both my warrior and scout and had two cities (one planted on Marokos face) there for the taking. But both Maroko and Assyria were just looking at me :D (King difficulty).

To be fair, the AI on civ iv could be pretty stupid at times :)
Of course. I have never experienced a game where the AI has given me the feeling to play against a human ALL the time. Honestly, i refused to play the last expansion set so i don't know if this have changed; but seeing a whole AI army floating completly undefended in the ocean, waiting for my ships come by and sink them one after another .. well, this is not even worthy to be called artificial intelligence!
If the AI would be able to combine at least two different units, like a transport ship/destroyer unit, the AI would not have such a hard time with the hexagonal tiles.

they (and the player) can do it since GAK, iirc

I've run Civ on laptops for the last 4 years without a problem. Currently it is a Toshiba Satellite with i7- a pretty good laptop, but a year old.

Playing on the same rig I imagine and yes it works well. Smooth game on standard, only gets slow on Huge by the modern era.

though on an i3 integrated gfx laptop i imagine he would be limited to duel or tiny map games if it works at all?

Tenkk, I have noticed that with BNW the game is pretty slow every turn. I think it is about the limit of what it will run.

Hi Cicerosaurus, it has been a few years since we cross ;)

Well I have only had a quick go on BNW on a small map to find out about trade routes. I didnt notice anything wrong then. Is your laptop getting dusty? i can explain how to open it on pm :D
