Thinking of Submarines

Er.... Reg, haven't you noticed there's a convenient thread just next-door in this same subforum? I am pretty sure the flavor question could be best probed in that other thread.

Back to topic, is the submarine going to be covered with wooden barrell panels on the body? Maybe I will go ahead with the small sub from Orthac for my mod. I'm pretty curious about how this sub will turn out. :)

Hovgaard was using riveted mild steel to build the submarine, so no wooden panels would be used. The dimensions were 140 feet by 14 feet (not counting the small superstructure) by 22 feet.

Yes I noticed that but as I said before I am not good at that and instead spending time and learn about I offer textured model because that something I can do and hope to have a help from someone more experienced with flavors.

@timerover51 - can you provide some reference images how this boat should look like, I have done quick search in Google but I can find only cross sections.

That's not necessarily how things work around here. If you need help, you can ask in that thread seeing as your question covers a similar topic. Granted, sometimes nobody answers because nobody's online, But that's not because nobody wants to help you. The nice folks around here is willing to give assistance when they can.

I'm going to stop myself here at this point. I'm not an expert on flavors so I can't help you altho I think I can dig up a tutorial on flavors hidden in this website somewhere and give you a link if you want.

Probably the best idea would be from the CSS Hunley. The rivet line spacing on Hovgaard's submarine was 4 feet on a 140 foot boat.

I have three proposals but still working on it. The rivets where joined together before but just before render they went together in different directions. That's why there are visible gaps between them at the top.
