We indeed will never know, but I would like to point out that my Man 'o Wars were !veteran!, and yours probably weren't.
And all my material (force, boarding parties, etc.) were in Portsmouth. (so I would need 1 turn to get to Plymouth, and 1 turn to go from there to Cork and/or Dublin)
And I had about 4 veteran boarding parties, who were healing already 2 turns, even before the game was stopped.

Definitely not; the scenario has no port facilities and his ships have seen no combat.

Anyway Steve is correct; had France not cheated they would have been beaten way worse, which would mean we would either be at peace right now or at least that Spain's resources would have been directed elsewhere. So we won't know.

Yep let dead dogs lie unfortunately, but I think we should all wait till Colonies 4 until we try a major European War in the early stages. At least John says that will be a possibility.
