Third PBEM bug I've found (in two days)

OK, this one is might be just a cosmetic issue, but it's still a bug.

In PBEM, when you finish your turn (by pressing the big green or green-turned-red button, for example), you get to see your turns results, including units you've just finished building. However, the turn is now over, and you cannot move the unit (or order it to perform any other actions) any more. The unit is correctly marked red (out of mobility). So far, so good.

However, if you're obtaining a new unit at the end of a turn not due to fact you've built it, but as a present, things seem to be different. This is what just happend to me in an ongoing PBEM game (I hope disclosing the info isn't too much disadvantage for me):

At the end of the turn, after I've pressed the "finish turn" button, the border of a city of mine grew. A tribal village that was just outside of the border has been "merged" into my territory and thus been "popped". As a result, I received a new unit (what unit exactly it is I won't further disclose, but it doesn't matter any way). This new unit is shown as fully mobil - with a little green dot and the mouse hover tooltip (in the buttom-left screen corner) saying it's all ready to be moved. When I try to move it (via the "go to mode", for instance), it showed the "step count", starting with "1".

Fortunately, the unit could not really be moved. The likely reason is that "Game Paused by Blkbird" flashing as the buttom of the screen is preventing me from any further actions. The correct behaviour of the game should be showing the new unit "out of mobility" just like units being finished building at the end of a turn.

As I "promised" with the last bug report, three bugs discovered (within two days) makes me apply for beta-tester. :D

Hey Birdbrain, if you read the manual (forgot the page recently) you discover that if you either: A rush a military unit or B you pop a unit at the end of a turn after hitting the big red button from a hut you can use them. It is perfectly legal and applies to all games as well. It is done especially for the rush units options to allow you set up a last defense before an AI comes to crush your civ in war. No offense but maybe you should check to make sure what happened to you is a real bug snd not just a game feature before blurting it out in the bug report forum and also it is not like Sid and Firaxis has put a gun to your head about "disclosing information" and in fact you not sharing info will make this bug last longer (even though it is not a bug but just for the future) than if you just told everyone what happened completely.

It seems you haven't read what I wrote - or misunderstood it terribly. What part of "appears to be able to move but actually is not" don't you understand?

I have to admit, that along with the previous 'bug' you mentioned this falls into the "Who cares?" category. This can at most give a slightly odd appearance to one unit, and is presumably due to the point at which the unit appears in the end turn. It has no affect on gameplay, and would probably require some major changes to how the end turn works to alter. I have seen far too many things get broken while trying to fix trivial issues to care about things like this. Some things aren't worth the effort to change, and this is to some extent true for the second 'bug' you listed. If you decide to PBEM against an AI then I don't see why you are surprised it doesn't work. Would you be surprised if multiplayer didn't work if your computer wasn't connected to the web? An infinite loop probably should be edited out, but it is hardly a priority. I can't comment on how significant the first bug is, due to your silly secrecy policy. This is unnecessary unless it involves an actual security issue, in which case say so. If you can't trust the person your playing against not to cheat there isn't a lot of point in playing them.

No. YOU are wrong. In your paragraph I quote, "The likely reason is that "Game Paused by Blkbird" flashing as the buttom of the screen is preventing me from any further actions." This is what is causing you to be unable to play the game. You hit pause break and paused the game. You hit it again to play the game once more. Also, may I quote, "This new unit is shown as fully mobil - with a little green dot and the mouse hover tooltip (in the buttom-left screen corner) saying it's all ready to be moved. When I try to move it (via the "go to mode", for instance), it showed the "step count", starting with "1". You just contradicted yourself so get it straight next time before you post another (fake) bug report. Later Birdbrain:crazyeye:.

No, I didn't hit the pause botton at any time. By "paused" the game means "paused automatically and irreversibly due to end of turn and waiting for the next player to act". I gave the description you quoted above as the reason why the bug is *not* causing real, but only cosmetic problem.

Your ability not to understand what others say is amazing. Where is this so called "contradiction"?
