I just purchased the game tonight on a whim when I saw it for 6$ at a local book store. So I get home install it and hope for some exciting civ gaming, alas this was not to be. First the game would load but after the intro vid it would black screen and lock my computer, so I do what any tech savvy guy would do and try to patch it. Much to my despair the BLEEPING PATCH BREAKS THE GAME EVEN FURTHER. After that fiasco I combed this forum for any one with similar problems and found a couple threads worth my attention. I found a couple .ini work arounds that had promise but still failed, and another work around for the no cd problem but that also failed. So I spent 3 hours looking for a patch that was not 1.29f so i could try the secrcd.sys trick but that was a waste of time, so I called the company on the website and they just blow me off, so in a fit of rage I just snapped the disc in twain. All in all this was a giant waste of my time and im going to go to bed now. Hopefully CIV4 ISN'T A GIANT PAIN IN THE ASS LIKE THIS GAME WAS, and if you do purchase this game my God help you for Atari wont.

OH that sucks man. I feel you pain I went a bargin bin shoppin a many day ago. Brought home a game dropped it in, it stops after the first few levels, Told me "now go buy the real version you cheap bastard" ;)

You should have dropped an extra ten spot for the whole shabang, that being Civ3Complete. It even comes with a 200 page instruction manual instead of the 'CD sleave guide to Civ 3' you ended up with

Heh,ya you are likely correct oh well.

any ways i just purchased the civ4+bts pack from steam :goodjob:, hears hoping for an addiction like civ2 gave me and alpha centauri!

any ways feel free to delete this thread mods, as it adds nothing of consequence to the forum
