The biggest flaw in any socialist theory is that on a large scale there is way too much bureaucracy to be efficient. Look at the Soviet Union, they made rapid growth in the early years since its territories were rather undeveloped and had significant room for growth, but as they continued to grow the bureaucracy crippled its ability to deal with its rising internal problems.

That's why I think co-ops in a market economy are better then central planning. Overbureaucracization is not a good thing, as the saying goes, "The bureaucracy is expanding to meet the needs of the expanding bureaucracy.".
