This appears when I get the leaderhead in diplomacy. The screen flicks to black, sometimes the cursor flashes on and off. SOMETIMES it recovers back into the game. Usually it crashes to a black screen, or blue with error message or causes a reboot.
Back to autosave every turn.........(RRRRRRRRRRR!!!!)

Looks like the driver is waiting for the display hardware to become idle, set Hardware acceleration to 'None' and see if that stops it. Usually means the driver isn't running the display hardware correctly so perhaps update the driver or try another one. I wouldn't say it is a direct problem within the game itself.
