I think its time we argued on which civy is the best.....
I find the Germans to be interesting and the Egyptians :egypt: .
Now its time for you guys to post replies and argue on which is the best and why!
I feel the germans are good because they work good on technologies getting u faster towards domination.
And the Egyptians well i just went with them cause of there religous beliefs. I felt that could be a strong ally in the Expanding area. Well neways start arguing. Whos the best Civy!

I think this has been done before...check the other board, the one specifically meant for civilizations

Best civ eh? Depends on your style of play, but I have to say the Persians are hard to beat with my style. I hit the first couple of civs hard early in the game and then sit back. The advantages of Persia mean that:

1) You get the best attack unit of ancient times, the immortal, which makes overunning even the Greeks easy (or at least easier).

2) The scientific ability means that librairies are cheaper to build than temples. Libraries give more culture per turn and of course increase your rate of scientific advance. More culture and science mean more money from other civs when you sell techs, which means more ibraries and... well you get the picture.

3) Finally industrious means that your settlers work faster to convert you newly conquered terrtories into something useful.

Personally, I now avoid the Persians as they make life too easy IMHO.

It really comes down to style of play. I do the best with Persians followed by Babs. Persians in the hands of a warlike player make the game really easy early on as immortals are pretty much good until gunpowder. That combined with cheap science and industry make for the ability to create nice cities early on. Faster workers and the bonus shield REALLY help early on.

Babs are also a favorite of mine since they have religion and science. Lots of early culture and the ability to switch governments. The Bowman is also a great early unit if you are going the peaceful route or even a small military route early on.

For my play style, I just tend to think that "early" cultures are far superior to later ones and that early UUs give you more bang for your buck. The really later UUs like the English, German and American ones simply are too late too matter. The middle age ones are good, but just not suited for how I like to play although the 2 move ones are always good.
