I know we support some basic product advertising, but an reasonable dose of ethics and good sense says it is time to remove the Strategy Guide ad link from the site main page and any other location where it appears.

I never bought the guide, but read enough bad initial reviews to recognize that initially this product was a rip off.

After 4 patches that radically changed the way the Civ3 game plays, the strategy guide has been rendered totally worthless except for some minimal collectors item/novelty value that i tmight have.

Unless someone is actively paying bucks to support the site activities, then I would strongly recommend that the strategy guide officially get the boot.

I agree I spent 20 bucks on it that I will never get back for that book filled with basically the entries in the civlopedia minus the historical description.

I got in a half-price sale and found it moderately useful for the first couple of games I played ( no previous Civ experience). With the patches, I agree, it is almost totally useless. Anybody that has found this site and spent half an hour in the forums will not need it.

Not a big problem. While on the right you see the Strategy Guide AD, on the left you see the War Academy, the FAQ and the references for units, tech tree, resources, etc. So most people should understand that buying the Guide would be a waste of money.

If CFC is making money by keeping the AD there then I don't think it's a problem.

I don't think it makes a differance at all. This is a Civ site? Why not advertise ALL of the Civ products?
