TIPS FOR A MONARCH (or harder game)

I was trying to play in the monarch level for the first time, after play a lot, but I simply coudn't follow the techonology of the AI! I don't know what can I do! The problemS are:

1- I don´t have money... 3 or 2 gold income each turn....

2- I can´t increase the science tax, due to I am poor!

3- I can´t find gold ou much shields... I spend much time to produce something and my money come basicaly from taxes over citizens

WHAT levels of luxuries/science do I have do use??? What Can I Do?

Any tip will be very welcome...

you might want to consider setting the slider to all taxes and buying the early techs. at least until the middle ages.

also dont rule out the possibility of an early war. if you hurt a civ badly enough you can usually extort techs as part of the peace deal.

build roads.

Overpopulate the area next to your capitol.Aglomerate at 6 work tile per town like Aesus I think. This will definately give u an advantage

destroy your neighboring civ(s) and extort everything they have. Youshhould have gotten at least one leader. Rush the Great Library and change the science rate to 0.
