Tired of Steam's web browser and Google Chrome being slow? Fix here!

Control Panel > Internet Options > Connections Tab > LAN Settings > Uncheck Automatically Detect Settings

Apparently Windows (vista and 7 anyway) has your browsers check for proxies first as default, and once I unchecked this neither Steam's web browser nor Google Chrome (both are built using WebKit) take upwards of half a minute at least to start up/load their first page. I didn't come up with this fix, someone sent it to me.

Now that will be one pizza please.

You can also just check that your system's internet favors a particular DNS....like Google (8.8.8.8). That tends to help with access speed too.

I'll try this, I use firefox, but lately it seems to take forever to do the initial load.
