Captured cities, take the buggers off the land and have them as scientists or taxmen.
Most of those cities are usually too far away from our core cities. Due to corruption, we would gain very little (or nothing) golds or science by turning them into taxmen or scientists.

Taxmen and scientists are not subject to corruption and specialists are always content. Naa naa

Are you sure about that? I will check that out tonight.:)

To bbaws:

I just checked out what you said and you are absolutely correct! "Taxmen and scientists are not subject to corruption". So in another word, for example, 10 scientists in a city that produce 1 shield would still be able to produce 10 science point. Wow, I'm learning something new every day. Thanks!:)

Each taxman = 1 gold;
Each scientist = 1 science

Yup, I knew that since day one; however, I thought they subjected to corruption since I didn't notice their contribution in the advisor screen. How wrong I was.:(

Hey, JCNB, I'm a little uncertain as to what you mean by "For every 2 luxuries you have, you can whip a city every 20 turns with no real penalties."

Do you mean that, if I've two lux, I can whip all cities every twenty turns? If I've four lux, I can whip more often?? Or is it two lux let you whip one city only every twenty turns.

Thanks

I whip quite a bit... but not out of hand...

- I usually do it to quickly get a culture point (Temple, Library...)
- If I'm at war and NEED units I'll whip their butts...
- I whip to get banks so I can build wallstreet... VERY IMPORTANT

Other then that I rarely whip

Applies to ICS cities - every 2 lux get you 2 happy faces, which is enough to absorb the whip unhappiness. You can of course whip even more often (once per lux for eg) but the 2 lux per whip gives you room for the city to grow. I wouldn't whip too often in the early stages BTW, unless you're desperate. You'll end up stunting your growth unless you're whipping settlers in size 4 cities (if you got flood plains and little else).
