Too much permafrost?

I was wondering... why is there so much permafrost? When i try a new game i'm always near permafrost so i can't expand very much.

My settings are Duel Map (with 8 team) with torreaide map, starting in old world and allow pangeas.

Is it because the map is too small? Or is there a way to eliminate to minimum permafrost?

oh and i play perfect world 2f.

Try another map.

And if it has to be PW2, do not try to change any settings on bonuses etc.

I'd say duel map, especially with 8 civs, is a problem as well. I play huge maps with 7.

Try Perfect Mongoose - I adjusted to decrease the arctic zones a while back due to the same frustration and it tests out nicely in that regard now.

It is like perfect world2? I like this map because of the ressource all over the map. ect.

I play duel map with a lot of civ because i don't like to have 20 city in my civilization. I think tiny map would do it.. but i don't know how many tiles it is.

It is PW3 (which is for Civ5) ported back to Civ4.
