So i was 70% downloading a completly legal 13 gigabyte file when through some problems utorrent couldn't work. I untistalled , installed it but i can't find that torrent so i can load it and resume downloads. So what can i do ?

I am aware that there maybe a program that allows you to return to your computer's previous state. Which is it ? Actually i only want to retrieve one file.

I'm not familiar with that downloader. Usually downloaders have multiple options, so possibly it as an auto-delete for failed torrents? I use "Download Manager" which has a built in torrent protocol, and tons of options including the ability to save a failed download, and resume one if the server allows it.

if you know the name, you could search for it..

I did and it isn't found because it was deleted. I am aware that there is a way to either retrieve lost files or to put your computer as it where on a previous state. I want to avoid the latter. Come on , doesn't anyone here know how to do it ?

If you've created any new files there is a high risk that the old file is too corrupt..

You could check and see if uTorrent has a forum or faq that has the answer. If uTorrent deletes failed downloads, you can google various undelete utilities, but no guarantees. That system restore you mention usually only restores drivers and OS settings, not individual files. Sorry to say it, but you might be stuck redownloading the whole file.

The thing is , The file itself that was 70% downloaded (Which is a folder with several files) is on my computer . However the torrent information file is not. Meh i will look for a solution if there is one.

wait..you're saying you're having problems finding the .torrent file?

Uhhm, hello? A bit of googling should give it to you.

Are you sure that you know what you are talking about and can efficiently help me ?

I can find the original torrent file but i can't find the modified torrent file which has the 70% downloaded information. If i download the original torrent file it will start from 0. In the past i had the same problem and only through norton's goback i could fix it. However today i don't have that program and i don't want to use it.

Yes, start the torrent up, and let it create all the files in the folder. Then close the program, copy the dl'd file that you do have into it, overwriting all the current ones, and start up your torrent program. It should automatically see the partially-finished files.

ya if you get the .torrent file open it and tell it to download in the same place as the 70% done files it should recognize that those files already contain that info and start at 70%. If not use a different client(azureus does it).
