Thank you. So, it allows use of a terrain graphic that may be taller than normal, mountains for example? Can it only be used with Terrain2, or can you apply it to a terrain from Terrain1 as well?

Terrain1(/3/5/7) shall stay the base graphic for your tile and bonuses' graphic, and are still limited in size to 32 pixel.
The base is what will be mixed at tiles' borders.
The layer graphics are all in Terrain2(/4/6/8) and can be configured for all 16 terrainTypes.
They all can be sized 48 pixel height*, have only 1, have 3 or 16 iterations.
These layers are not mixed in tile's border and are hiding mixture under them.
*Used that to simulate depth on TheElderScrollsSkyrim's scenario undergrounds.
Here's an exemple with a project I'm currently working on.
The most important thing not to miss with definition and Terrain2 changes is the last row of tiles, which will determine the placement of rivermouth and shores tiles right under it.
Please notice that the rivers tile location is also fixed in terrain2(/4/6/8).
and in this rules file, we have
terrainTypeCode, numberOfTiles, TilesPixelHeight, topPixelHeightAxisvalue of row
