2 questions on this one!

1st - trade: how does everyone else go about trading in civ2? for me its only really an afterthought but i know alot of people say it is the most important part of the game. i seem to build caravans only when most of my infrastructure has been built while i usually rush buy any wonders rather than using stacks of caravans or freight. can anyone give me some tips on trading - it would be nice to play the game slightly different from my usual way.

2nd - enemy civs: when i first started playing civ i naturally began with cheiftan. i enjoyed winning so much i played on chieftan for about a year before i attempted warlord. ive now reached king level after a bit more practice with civ2 and 3 but the thing is: on civ3 - even on chieftan level, the other civs expand until there is not more space to expand any further (albeit v.slowly). on civ2 though, my recent prince level game showed that the other civs dont expand entirely even if you play right to the end. is this true of all difficulty levels or did i just get a lucky game? this brings up another question as well. Does everyone expand or do you play the way the other civs do? i find if i expand too much i get over run with military units before ive finished because i have neglected this side of the game, while if i dont - all i can think of is: 1 more city would increase my productivity and trade, etc. Any ideas???

BTW - with regards to expanding: i generally dont try to milk my games for score - im only really interested in winning the game. obviously for a big score you would expand loads, but is it neccesary when you just want to win?
