The Babylonians are trading with 3 nations:

Iroquois
England
Russia

By looking at who each civ is trading with (not much due to all the wars)

Russia's Trades:

Zulus - Perhaps for Wines, as wines do not appear on our trading block.

They only trade with us, and Babylon. Russia has no horses, and horses do not appear on our trading block, so we can assume:

Babylon - horses to Russia

We can give Russia Mil. Trad. for an allience, then trade them horses, and see if we can get any techs, or luxs (as we have lost ivory!).

England's Trades

Babylon - The Babs have spices and dyes. Dyes appear on our trading block, but spices do not. We can assume that Babylon is trading spices to England

This is England's only trading partner. They will sign for a number of tech/lux combinations (including physics, and metallurgy as stand-alone techs). This would also be a good idea to prevent any French attacks. England has an MPP with Greece. That will bring Greece into the war.

Iroquois's Trades

The Iroquois are trading with China, and Babylon. They have horses and wines. Our only lux we can trade is incense. The important trade is what they're trading to Babylon. We have dyes, and it does not appear on the trading block. Babylon's only other trading partner is the Iroquois, so they are the most likely traders of dyes.

Babylon - dyes.

So, Babylon's trades are:

Horses to Russia
Spices to England
Dyes to Iroquois

An assessment of Babylonian cities:

Samarra has saltpeter (1 north) and horses (1 SE). This is a border city on the Iro.'s northern border.

Uruk (NE of the citiy) has iron (SE).

Eridu has horses, but is tucked away on the SW coast.

Nagasaki is an Iroquois city that has saltpeter. We must watch this city carefully.

Babylon can also possibly trade with:

Rome, America, Zulus, and China.

Zulus and Rome have no Saltpeter and no 2nd source of horses.

- America has 2 saltpeter. We need a trade embargo - available when one of us has nationalism.

- China also has 2 saltpeter, but it close to the Industrial era.

I would suggest signing an ROP with the Iroquois and bringing an explorer or two to pillage Samarra. (and pillage the iron)

Here's a path that our explorer could take. Kyoto could build an explorer in two turns. (BTW, Larsa also has horses - that's a 3rd -, but it is surrounded by the Iroquois, Russia, and us.) It could reach the iron in 3 (pillage in 4), then one more for the saltpeter. (7 turns total).

Here's a picture:

Maybe after we get the last horse's we can get those dies over by Nineveh.

Remember, Babylon is sandwhiched, and could succumb very easily to Russia and the Iroquois. (BTW, it's dyes, not dies. ;))

Give me a break.... I want them dead :)... Anyway can we hit those dyes after the last horse's? It's the only one they have and it could hurt there happiness.

:hammer: Death! Death to all who oppose us! :hammer:

Keep in mind, to deny them of their precious Cavalry, we need only deny them of Saltpeter. And, if we are able to deny them of their iron also, then they're going to come charging in with horsemen, longbows, and riflemen. Easy pickin's for our Cavalry (with the exception of the riflemen...).

This is the path I think we should take with our explorers. The explorer in Kyoto will have to be built first, and the 2nd one immediately 2 turns later. It's a 1-2 punch. The only problem we might face is fighting between Babylonian and Iroquois troops. The yellow branch will be the safer of the two. I have a feeling that the brunt of their forces are those longbows, origanally sent to Persia.

The idea is to snag iron along the way, and the yellow explorer will cut off the saltpeter first, then horses (to prevent trade). If any explorer gets into trouble, the other could lure troops out of the way.

Nice detail. Looks good!

That looks like an excellent plan to me. Scouting is very useful in RTSes, and I am glad to see it being used during wartime in this game.

This looks quite workable. I would consider buying another explorer out of Fukushima, just to provide a second line of infiltration.
