Trade blockaded

I had a trade route with Mongolia before a barbarian city spawned and blockaded it. But I also have open borders with Persia and all three of my cities are connected with them. Why don't I acquire a trade route with them?

Could be that they/you don't have open borders. Or if you are running Mercantilism

No, I have open borders with Cyrus, and I run decentralization. I haven't even got the required tech banking, this is very early in the game.

This is a long shot, but in order to establish trade, your capital needs to be connected to their capital. Perhaps you can see one of their cities, that isn't yet connected to their own capital?

Not sure but could it be
Mongolia/Persia don't have open borders
There isn't a visible route through Persia
