Trade route broken

Don't know if it is a bug, or just one of the zillions of things I still don't know about the game, but sometimes I'm informed that a traderoute between two of my cities has broken for some reason I'm not aware of.

Why?

This started happening to me as well, around the time I started building my railroad.

I have the exact opposite issue, but with CS.
I must be linked to a allied CS to gain its ressources. And sometimes I get them even if I'm not linked to it (non coastal cities).
