is there somewhere which says what each civ trait gives you??

for example,i know that agricultural gives you one extra food if city is on a river (or out of despotism) and you can get halfprice hydros etc,but anything else?

at what about the other traits..

I know the civelopedia gives you explanations to the traits.

It does, but unfortunately the explanations are very vague.

For a few more details, go to this page, select "Basic Questions" and scroll down to the "What are traits?" section. There are still some vague things on that page too.

AFAIK, there is no single, exhaustive source of info on the traits. :( Which is a bummer because such a source would be very helpful. Some specifics, like SCI civs getting a 5% SGL chance vs. 3% chance for non-SCI civs, are info pieces you probably don't find out until you've played for a long time.

The best way to get answers to a specific trait question is to either search the forums with your question or start a thread. Tedious I know, but there seems to be no better alternative.

Another thing the Civilopedia is very vague or non-existent on is that each civ has a "preferred" and "hated" style of government. They'll like you more if you're practising their "preferred" government type, and less if you're practising the "hated" one. Also, different civs have different aggression/annoyance levels towards you (from more experienced players on these forums, it seems the Germans are notorious for being the worst civ to start next to!)

I only got this info from these forums (CivIII Civilopedia is not the best Help system I've seen...) - but it's also shown by CivAssistII, a great utility I highly recommend - downloadable from here: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=118540
